For me, I realized I had been watching anime for a few years, but about 4 or so years ago I started watching Tytania and then some time after that SAO, then I just got hooked. And I'm glad to have had that chance too.

Vocaloid did. I saw some pictures of Vocaloids made by my favourite artist on newgrounds and then I got into it when I found out what vocaloid actually was. This made me give anime a 2nd chance and I ended up here.

The checkout clerk at Major Video back in 1989. He said when I was older, I could "watch the big kids Japaneimation over in the International section," but for the time being, I had to settle for G-rated dubs.

My younger cousin one day said to me "you're a big japanese animation fan right?" and I answered "no, I prefer U.S. toons...force five, starblazers, speed racer, kimba, tobor the 8th man, prince planet, robotech, battle of the planets..." and he continued with the totally unexpected by me comment of "I'm sorry to break this to you..." and from that day forward I was an anime fan .

My local public library had a varied DVD collection with kinda musty old movies but some great anime titles. Not sure which one I watched first but I remember checking out Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Ghost In The Shell, Paranoid Agent and Samurai Seven early on. Love the stuff!

Marine boy Kaitei Shōnen Marin and Star Blazer Uchū Senkan Yamato I was 7, yes I watched both on American TV right before JP Patches every morning. We didn't have Speed Racer Mach gogogo until the 80s. Yes I watched Carl "The Butcher" Macek's Robotech the man needed to be stopped I tell you it would have been justice to the creators of it if he had been. I died a little inside because of it.

Hooked at an early age geek and proud.

Dragon ball + Ghibli's Movies
I was amazed at that time, I didn't know that Anime is Japanese, I thought they are from Europe .
After I discovered the internet in 2006, I watched the whole Dragon Ball series French Dubbed, somehow I managed to understand it, although my first language is Arabic.
