Honestly, my viewing has been so inconsistent, but I recon I've seen around 800-1,000..

I started watching anime in 1989. 89, not 98. We had a dude at Major Video who set up a "Japanimation" shelf in the International Isle, as well as a section of G-rated dubbed animes in the little kids section. It wasn't hard to tell that there was something distinctly different about anime, between the style & that fact that it was significantly less condescending & even more violent.

This is from a G rated kids anime about a baby unicorn & a kitten.

Around 2004, Comcast removed Anime Selects from the On Demand menu, & I got into MMORPGs, X-Men, & Batman comics, so my interest just waned, & I'd only watch about 1 anime series a month at most & one series a year at least. It wasn't until just last year that my interest picked up again...I realized I tended to be in a much better mood the next day after watching anime or reading manga.

ALL of you will go through this eventually......You will hit burnout on anime after about 15-20 years, just like everyone in my highschool anime club did. & when you start watching again, it won't be with the furvor & passion you had in your Noob Years. You'll take a cynical approach to new series, learning about them in advance, longing for the old days because they've changed so much.

Uh yeah, enough ranting from me.....

60s: 5. Not recommended....Cheap animation techniques & terrible music.
70s animes: Less than 50. Only available on VHS, very hard to find in a world with no internet & you too young to work.
80s & 90s: Over 600 series, OVA mini series, & movies.
2000s: 300 or so.
2010s: About 20, 50 if you count the ones I only saw a few episodes of before dropping.

I wonder what anime will be like in 15-20 years. 3 dimensional?

Whenever someone talks about Oculus Rift or Google Glass in forums, anime always comes up (though it's usually hentai).

If we knew how many there were it be easier to see who has seen the most. But even attempting to figure that out seems like a hopeless battle.

We would be better off trying to estimate how many anime episodes we have seen judging by the total amount of episodes per series. Even then that is absolutely ridiculous to try and figure out lol.

Do You have mal? It gives you the total number of episodes you have watched at the bottom of your list~

I have completed about220 anime television series :-) jay!

according to anime-planet:

316 watched
14 watching
174 want-to-watch
44 stalled
113 dropped
21 won't watch

6,135 total episodes for a total time of 3 months, 1 week, 5 days, 9 hours, and 49 minutes (aprox) worth of time spent on anime... that's off, though, since I've seen a lot more and re-watched a lot more anime than I can remember to put on that site.
