does that mean i am the only person that favors fsn over fz?

i don't know if FZ has much to do with it, but people simply hated on FSN without it. FZ was new, and pretty original and badass but its feels forced. FSN had a better story and was more fun to watch, although without a doubt there were so many things that can be done better.

The first fate stay night was awful. I tried watching it. Big mistake. You have to be a complete fool to believe that FSN 2006 is better than zero just because it came first. It's not even relevant. The whole franchise has been kept afloat through games and visual novels up until Ufotable and Urobochi decided to grace it with their infinite awesomeness.

We're talking about the the current adaptation of UBW and not the 2006 version of Fate.

No we aren't. We are talking about F/SN and NOT UBW. Everybody is in agreement that UBW is a masterpiece more or less. The OP is mad that no one is grateful for F/SN 2006 since it paved the way for what we have now.

I blame Studio Dean for all the ungratefulness. Especially after Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night UBW after Ufotable got its hands on it. Studio Dean is a very lackluster animation studio that tends to ruin great narratives with horrible animation quality and inconsistency.

Why isn't the OP grateful for the *fans* that bought the original F/SN anime which paved the way for what we have now? Or how about, why isn't the OP grateful for the fans that bought the original VN which paved the way for the F/SN? Or how about the gaming company? Or how about... blah blah blah.

It seems kind of ridiculous--doesn't it?--that the OP focuses on just one thing that we should be "grateful" for.

You talk like UBW isn't Fate/Stay Night, but it is. Just the second route and not the first one.
I think OP is bothered that after we got our wonderful ufotable version of Fate/Stay Night, idiots went "Fate/Zero was better" and "Stay Night doesn't live up to Zero's name".

Calling people idiots for having an opinion just makes you look foolish. The first adaptation of F/SN in 2006 which we are currently discussing was bad. Plain and simple. Zero redeemed the franchise and now we have a decent version of F/SN in UBW.

"Zero was better" is an opinion. "Stay Night doesn't live up to Zero's name" is a faulty statement that comes from the lack of knowledge about which came first.
Yes, even I wouldn't call the 2006 adaptation good, but Zero didn't redeem the franchise since it wasn't bad to begin with. One misstep can't destroy a whole franchise and it didn't happen this time either. The Fate franchise was completely fine even after 2006. There was the original VN which was as good as ever and all the other spin-offs.
The Fate/Zero anime did really good, but it wasn't the Messiah of the franchise. Mostly because it didn't need one.

The current UBW is good-great but a masterpiece it isn't. Not to mention it being one piece of the FSN story. The 06 anime adds the Fate piece to that story and also served for a lot of people as the entry point to the series so in that regard I do think it deserves more credit (and less insulting/degrading).

It's all in the context. I meant UBW is a masterpiece when compared to F/SN 2006

I personally like FSN (both of them) wayyyyyy more than I like Zero. I remember reading somewhere that Zero was supposed to be an ensemble cast and that there was no main character. But it never really felt that way to me. It always gave me the impression that Kiritsugu was the MC. And I didn't really feel like it was trying to make me care about any of the characters save for a select. And the only characters who felt like they had any depth/development to me were Kotomine, Waver, and Rider.

Both FSN's do better on caring about the characters and giving them depth/development imho. Even though one of them is very focuses in on a specific set, it still does a good job with them.

Also 90% of the people I come across who say Zero is better answers boils down to because it's about adults. Because for some reason they think somehow Adult cast = better anime

Agreed except for the franchise redemption brought on by zero. Legions of anime watchers myself included never got into the games or visual novels, after seeing the original fate stay night, but after zero it definitely was a game changer. Now I am more inclined to read the novels and play the games.

From what you said it's clear that Zero didn't bring redemption. It just got people to watch something they were too lazy to read. That's no redemption. That's just increasing a certain part of the fanbase.

I personally still prefer FSN over Zero, mainly because since I read the VN already when I watched it. The main drawing points throughout the series for me was learning more about things relevant to the plot in FSN like KIritsugu and the events that lead up to him adopting Shirou, the Matous, how Kotomine and Gilgamesh became partners, etc.. Everything else was kinda just...there and didn't really leave any lasting impact on me.

I didn't really feel drawn to any of the characters, their motivations, or conflicts like I did with FSN either, not even the servants even though many people consider Zero's servants to be better or more compelling. I definitely still prefer FSN's servants, since they DO get development...just none of them but Saber get any development in the current anime adaptions so I'd imagine many people consider them boring. But cour 2 of UBW will definitely have some development on Ilya and Berserker's relationship and quite a bit of Lancer being a bro too at least.

Though I'd imagine the FZ crowd will eat Heaven's Feel right up when it comes out, that route is definitely right up their alley.
