Growing up I was induced with stereotypes by my community, and the one thing I've noticed countless times is that when trying to offend someone- You mock their accents.

Later growing up in life, I later witness the appeal of British accent garnering the Hearts and Souls of American fan-girls.
And as ignorant as I was- I thought and believed that Universally- British accent was the one and only accent every girls wanted to hear.

That is until I recently watched a video.. (Link below)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5iNDbPK-fY

So tell me, is that true? do foreign girls find that same appeal in American Accent as American girls find the appeal in European and British accents?

(For further discussion open the spoiler box)

To be honest I think it is easier to pick up a foreign girl than a American one, but I don't think it has anything to do with accents........ I mean I guess some accents are more appealing to girls than others but I don't think they'd date you just cause of your accent

Accents are appealing in the first place because of their novelty. The way a language sounds itself does come into play, but it's far outweighed by the fact that accents in general are mysterious and intriguing. An accent is a clue-in that the person you're talking to will have a different cultural perspective than you, which could make them an interesting conversation partner.

People forever desire exotic people, places, and things.. it appeals to their sense of adventure and some crave it excessively. I once saw a young boy on a documentary with a most peculiar mental illness , he might have been 9 or 10, who was from the American South, and he suffered from a delusion that he was british (and you would be surprised how convincing he really was), but anyway, I'm sorry for getting sidetracked ---- --- British accents come across as more refined to Americans I guess because Americans descended from European colonists, much of whom were of English and Irish ancestry, so I'd say it's normal, but it gets to be an obsession. Brits are just people overall, they're not from Mars.

As long as you have a raspy voice, any language, even just reading a kindergarten story book, would sound so sexy.

1. It's nice to have Dean Ambrose's voice while talking casually.
2. When singing, Aj McClean is my ideal type. He had this dramatical pitch.

People from my country (Bahamas).. do not sound very attractive.. the accents in the video are a bit over exaggerated, as alot of people actually know how to speak quite properly, however, when people are in massive groups we tend to divulge into slurs and stuff.

I only speak like that if im out with a group of other people speaking in that accent and I dont want people to ask if I need a cab (Since im white, they always think im a tourist)

The video might offend some people so, just a heads up.

I've always thought it's not the accent that people are attracted to... it's the physical appearances of the people associated with the accents...

I've noticed most people say they find those strong European English accents attractive... and American, british and Australian... all of which are predominantly White..... isn't it because they perceive white people as attractive?

I think they don't like Asians or Indian or any other minorities' accents, it's because people perceive the people in those races as physically unattractive... and therefore they associate the accents with physical unattractiveness, thus in turn they find the accents unappealing.

___________

this is my honest opinion... I don't care about being politically correct or whatnot. quite frankly.

Personally, I love me a man with a German or Scottish accent. They both sound harsh and manly to me ;)

It's hard to know what American accents sound like to other countries, but according to a scottish (as in he recently moved here) friend of my dad's, the american accent sounds, well, not too pretty to them, but not absolutely horrible or anything.

Not a favorite but I quite like the neutral sounding american accent. I think its from the west coast? I know east coast people sometimes have heavy accents(like Boston, New York).

I don't think so - but then again, I'm from Scotland so that stereotypical British accent is still foreign to me and most of the people I've met. Nonetheless, I don't think that the American accent holds anywhere near as much of an effect as the British accent holds on people.

I have a neutral American accent, but my parents have a foreign accent, like... you can't put a country on it but you can tell they were not born here.
