Ok, so I just watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrOipe2O9Iw&ab_channel=AlphaOmegaSin

And apparently youtube is going to make a payed subscription service where you can skip ads. The question now becomes, what are they going to do more then add free for subscribers... I can't see anyone paying for youtube when you can just get an add blocker or add away and get the site without ads. There's also another question that arise from this, how are youtubers who make a living on ads going to keep making money? I mean, if you want to support a certain youtuber now and have add blocker then you can simply just add them to your white list.

So, what do you think about this?

Here's the source in the video description above. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/youtube-s-new-subscription-service-152126187.html,

they're so greedy
if they want paid subs, they should make several original shows or offer several recent shows on their channels first. something that is exclusive for the subscribers.
and not just force people to pay for a service that should be free....

and I find their stupid google+ thing really annoying. can't comment without having this unnecessary thing that I never even use.

If it's happening it won't change too much, as AnimeTuttons above me also sais; The paid subscription will be a completely optional thing and it will not prevent you from watching videos through the medium.
What I might see happening is that Youtube's going to implement ways to get around adblockers or them forcing you to disable it for YT before allowing you to watch anything.

google already has enough money to buy a company almost every day, I don't see this working in their favor mostly because I'm one of those said ad-block users

You're both right and wrong.

About 2 years ago they said that they were thinking of making a pay model and then like a year ago they launched a service where youtube partnered channels could take 0.99$/month for a subscription to their "premium youtube conent". And this subscription model failed horribly since abosulty no one wanted to use this pay model and people was scared of it because it may hurt their channels and their income.

The primary diff between this and the other subscription is that this is suppose to hide ads on the service meaning that people who live on ads will have their income cut since there's no way Google will be avail to cut their 7$/month to all channels you might have watched in a month.

I don't have a problem if Google is trying to make youtube like Netflix or something but keeping the core youtube features free. But if this is just add free then it's something I'm 100% against!

If the time comes when YouTube gets too greedy, another website is bound to arise and take the spotlight. I'm sure the money crazy folks up in head office know this though, and in order to not scare users away they are slowly delivering the stepping stones to a paid service. Cunning.

trust me I'm not planning on it, but that doesn't change the fact that it is still greedy. I think Youtube is very different from the ones who you mentioned like pandora and spotify, youtube is a site where anybody from anywhere can upload a video about literally anything. I feel like restricting people in anyway will change youtube in a lot of people's eye. just my opinion.

I don't think it's that bad I mean everyday we see new company's rising up and taking over basic cable television it's no surprise to me that YouTube would do something like this and I think it may work. However with their being ad block on all search engines I think it'll be less appealing to those that use their PC to view content.

You can't use an adblocker on a phone or tablet, I assume. Not to mention, Adobe flash doesn't work on an iPad since Steve Jobs cursed Adobe till he was buried ten feet under.

They'll be just fine.
