In cases like this, censorship sucks. I'm an adult, not a baby, so I can take whatever's often portrayed as something so unspeakable that it can't be portrayed....things which often aren't as bad as they were made out to be.

Here's the thing, I'd say in most cases anime with heavy violence use it to develop the plot and/or characters. There is rarely frivolous or random violence in anime. If certain things are deemed to be too violent for broadcasting, then censoring them is fine, as long as it isn't ALL of it, and as long as the scene still makes sense (when you black out 4/5 of the screen it is stupid).

The issue I have with the ecchi/nudity censoring is that it is the opposite. Most of the time it does not do ANYTHING for the story or characters and is there strictly b/c sex sells. It feels like the scenes are added, and then censored, only because an uncensored edition will be released at a later date. In cases like the censoring was unnecessary because the scene itself was not needed, and it bothers me when it is there. I am not against ecchi in anime, but it isn't why I watch it. Some animes seem to revolve almost exclusively around it, and even that doesn't really bother me. Its just that when you make a show like that and then censor it, you really should have just done a disc release instead of the broadcast/streaming where everything is blacked out anyway.

I'm not really bothered about censorship because I can understand that it's for the sake of sales. But when it covers the whole goddamn screen, then yes, it is just annoying and unnecessary. But I don't think it has anything to with whether a show is good or not.

Censoring on T.V makes sense, however, censoring on crunchyroll and various other streaming sites is ridiculous.

Crunchyroll needs to make a deal with the licencors similar to what funimation does, when the BD's are released, the T.V versions being streamed online, are replaced with the BD versions, therefor eliminating the censoring.

I'm sick of these animation companies forcing fans to pay 50$ for finished product after we already pay to watch it online and or subscribe to those channels.

I dont want to pay 50$ to remove a streak of light, I want the streak of light to not exist at all.

Except that Funimation is a dubbing and physical distribution company primarily (streaming a secondary avenue), while CR is only streaming. Funi can get licensing deals that allow them to stream things that CR can't because of that, since the publisher is getting the money they want out of the physical media deal that Funi provides.

I'd certainly love it if CR went into dubbing and physical distribution like Funi does, but until then, those kinds of deals are probably not going to happen.

I'm usually fine with it, so long as it doesn't take away from the story or impacts the art too much. A common example is Terra Formars. A lot of people said the censoring in it was cancer, but I wasn't too bothered (I forgot there was even censorship at times.) It was still done poorly, however. Seriously, human loses arm- censored. Alright, that can be reasonable. The next episode? A roach gets it's head blasted off and another punched through the chest. Uncensored. Still, that stuff never really bothers me.

Honestly, though, sometimes they censor a bit too much, and it makes me think, If you gotta censor it that bad, you probably have the wrong viewers.

Sadly, CR is caught in the crossfire when I dump a stream for censorship strategies intended to bolster physical media sales. It's nothing against you folks.

CR might be able to work something out with Sentai and get them to put up titles they have home video versions for on CR perhaps? I know at least certain anime have been added as home video versions uncensored by the likes of NISA at least. Though TAN exclusivity may be an issue there. Hulu hosts some of their uncensored content, however.

its not that but, any company that censors makes the censors so obivous and irritating, like the whole black screen, or some giant animation right in the middle of the screen, they could make the censors a little more sutl or not so distracting

Oh come on, the usual excuse of "I'm watching it for the plot" loses all meaning if people complain about the ecchi being censored. Even if it wasn't censored, fanservice won't make a half-assed story any better.

Oh no, you didn't.
There's a clear difference between the fanservice of Zero no Tsukaima and those like High School DxD. The latter being "hey look, boobs with nipples! am I a good anime now?".
