Getting money back every year. One of the joys of having a child.

That, and having someone to change my diapers when I get old(er).

My dad owes about $10,000+, I'm pretty sure. They are actually coming to our house this month.

Man ... I owe a few grand ... I haven't actually gotten anything back from taxes since 2007.

Sigh, I remember the good ol' days of being able to count on a tax return. Not so much anymore.

Refund, better to overpay then deal with owing money, especially when it comes to the IRS.

hah..that would make sense, but i was just thinking of any currency that has a high exchange rate. welp hope you have an off shore account or money under your mattress

Last I heard the Australian government takes a dim view on tax dodges. The whole concept of not paying taxes is alien to me I use government services everyone does, those that think they don't are foolish. They also prove themselves foolish by proclaiming they don't. I got a list of them if you would like to see them. Well the ones for the states at least.

"Man, as a social animal, can no more escape government than the individual can escape bondage to his bowels."
Robert Heinlein Stranger in a Strange Land

Also the last time I look at Australian currency it looked a lot like monopoly money.

There was a new credit so I wound up overpaying by like $44, but I uped the allowances on my W-2 so I won't overpay next year even with the credit. Since I am declining to pay the ACA "Tax" a.k.a. Fine, I have to make doubly sure not to over pay so there is nothing for them to confiscate.

Overpaying is a very bad idea ..letting the government have an interest free loan? No thanks. Take that "loan" and put it toward a house payment and $800 turns into thousands of dollars in saved interest; or it could be invested.

huh I got all but about 400 dollars back for my payments to my insurance provider because of the ACA for my medical insurance and don't you have insurance through your employer if you do you don't get fined? Paying out of pocket at the hospital is stupid and can easily wipe you out financially. And if you make less than a certain amount you qualify for Apple health care in Washington state.

rarely. i also prefer to overpay.

I typically get back about $1K. i prefer to do it that way because I cannot handle OWING $1K as a lump sum at the end of the fiscal year.

as for the 'interest' or getting the money i overpay by to do something..... interest rates suck. it's not a huge amount of money by today's standards, and per pay check, it's not enough to notice. plus a portion of that reason i get it back is because i make only about 20k throughout the year. not like some high rollers around here...

I don't own anything. I hope my parents don't either, that would be really irresponsible of them....especially after after Chinese new year ....anyways doesn't your employer force you to fill in the tax payment form when they hire you? Shouldn't your tax be paid automatically? I really don't get how people can have this problem...

For some reason they seem to think I make way too much money and need to give them more. Freakin' jerks...

I wish I could claim my cats as dependents... They're pretty much like kids...

Everyone pays taxes at some level this is a common mis-perception that people have is that not everyone pays taxes. What you don't pay because you are a minor and don't have a source of income is income tax. But you more than likely pay sales tax on goods if you live in a state or country that has one.
