I've two cars ... I don't think I've ever actually been on public transportation since I was in middle school / freshman (had my license at 15, so I was driving as a frosh).

Cars are freedom. I cannot live without my car.

If it were possible to get around where I live without a car, I would do so.

Wait, let me rephrase that... if it were possible to get around where I live without a car -within a reasonable time frame-, I wouldn't drive. But The public transportation system here sucks, the closest stop is ~20 minutes away on foot (~5 on bike), and the bus system itself takes forever to use and doesn't have a very good array of stops. So personal transportation I must use.

Plus everyone gave me crap for the longest time over it...

I prefer driving mainly because, I don't have to wait, and I can just go anywhere I want. Besides, there isn't any transportation around me, unless I drive, either 25-35 miles, to the nearest city that has some.

A car is a form of transportation, so I've edited your title slightly, assuming by "Transportation" you meant something like public transportation.

It took a while after moving to an urban area, but eventually I sold my car and for several years now I have relied on walking and public transportation to get most places. I rent a car to visit my mom or my siblings a handful of times a year, but that's pretty much it for car use.
