Public transit has its perks if it's a train. I despise having to take buses. Generally, I tend to prefer driving over public transportation. I can listen to music, get there faster most of the time, etc.

The public transportation system here just isn't adequate, so I have to own a car no matter what. So taking the bus is just an added expense, and a significant increase in travel time.

I will try to save the environment in some other fashion. It's faster, easier, and cheaper to just drive where I need to go and pay to park.

Public transit in Vancouver, while technically very good, doesn't work for me as I currently work out of town and it is simply not feasible to PT it. It would be a two zone fare (5.00$) each way and about an hour and 15 minutes travel time then a 15 minute walk, by car or motorbike it only takes me 20 minutes and I get right to the staff parking lot and 10$ gets me a week and a half of fuel for the bike. Formerly I was working as a Lifeguard on an "On call" basis where sometimes I only had 10 minutes prior notice of a shift. The pool I worked at was just down town but by bus it' would take on average 30 minutes, by motorcycle I averaged 15 minutes and one rare occasion when some minor traffic laws MAY have been "ignored" I made it in 10 minutes...
