Other weird injuries:

I got hit in the head by a treadmill. I was rummaging through stuff in the garage and a treadmill that was stored leaning against a wall started to lean the other way. One of the bars got me in the head and knocked me out for a few seconds. I think I cracked my skull but it seems to have healed up fine.

I just finished a tedious waterstone sharpening and thorough cleaning of one of my swords. I was oiling in preparation of putting it back into the saya when I clumsily dropped the blade. It caught my hand and also gouged a nice chunk out of the wooden floor. The sword itself had no sign of damage. Good thing I was sitting on the floor while doing that. It was a functional katana designed for cutting tatami, made with spring tempered steel.

When I was little, I wrapped my dog's leash around my arm. She was a German Shepherd. Something caught her attention and she sprinted off with the other end of the leash attached to her collar. I didn't have a tight grip on the leash but the overlapping coils that slipped off my arm gave me one hell of a friction burn that took quite a while to heal. It left a triangular scar that is now barely visible.

I was about 3 years old and was riding a bike with my cousin. She was pedaling and I was sitting behind her. My foot caught in the spiky gear and chain. Then, our bike crashed since that caused her to lose control. It hurt so much I couldn't even cry. I got a huge, nasty scrape over my entire heel, as well as several puncture wounds from the spiky gear.

I was cutting a deformed pear. It was one of the firm Korean shingo pears. I was also not paying attention. The blade deflected sideways and didn't go straight down through the fruit as I intended. The deflected blade nearly severed the tip of my left index finger. It pretty much sliced through the nail and down to the bone on its way around the finger in a semicircle, leaving the fingertip hanging. My grandma freaked out and we managed to stop the profuse bleeding by grinding up some herbs in the yard and applying them. I had no feeling in my fingertip since I cut a nerve. I did my best to align the two pieces, then superglued the edges of the sliced nail together to hold the pieces in position. It only began to hurt after it started to heal. I never went to the doctor for this, even though it probably would have been best to get stitches. My fingertip is permanently numb but there's not much of a scar since the blade was so sharp. I always sharpen my knives and swords until they are like fresh razors. I thought the hanging part was going to shrivel up and fall off. I didn't expect it to reattach this well.

I was trying to get the sliding screen door back onto its track. I lost my grip and the door slid off the track and off the frame. It landed on my big toe. The area became a dark purple and it hurt so much I could not sleep for nearly 2 days. The nail peeled off over time. While it was healing and the nail was still attached, some idiot at church stepped on my foot. I was probably 8 years old and that adult didn't even notice he stepped on my foot and ripped off that nail. I could only cringe on the floor in agony and couldn't summon my voice to call out to the guy. I was so angry.

My weirdest injuries are probably the ones associated with accidents in the shop.

One of the incidents I laugh at the most when I look back on it is when we were making dummy frags to test shrapnel configurations and I had one go off on the workbench in front of me due to an unfortunate spark. I thought I shielded myself, and I didn't feel any pain. When I went to take my mask off; it was catching on something that made my forehead sting. I had my friend cut the straps and pull it off, and I had caught a piece of flak in the right side of my forehead. It looked like a little, jagged horn. Not a super serious injury; just popped it out with pliers and had him stitch it, but I'm glad I was wearing one of the plate masks. It dug into my skull, but if I weren't wearing the mask that probably would have been a brain scrambler.

When I was 6 I got a little stone embedded into my elbow whilst playing one lunchtime. I had to go ask for help to get it out. Then there was the falling in a broken chair incident for which I had to have stitches to repair the back of my leg. I had many a busted toe from cycling barefoot and having my fool slip off of the pedal on the the road tarmac at a speed. Luckily I got away with no injuries walking around our block barefoot (mother would reprimand me when she caught me doing this). The most embarrassing one was when I was 12, tripping over our pet dog called Scrappy. She literally suddenly ran across the path I was walking and I fell forward onto my hands. I still have a faint 5mm scar on the palm of my hand from that.

Me and my brother were playing tennis at the park one day and he hit a ball all the way to the side of the court. Being a dumbo, I went after the ball, hit it, and banged my hand against the metal pole holding the net up. Because of that, I fractured my thumb and had to go through the caststages :\
