I've tried emailing CR Support three times about this issue but it's been no help so far. I've received three identical emails which seem to imply that my question isn't even being read, only to receive no response when I reply to their email. Hopefully I can find a solution here. I'll just copy/paste what I said in my initial email to support.

"I frequently have a problem watching Crunchyroll on my Roku streaming stick. The problem is that video will pause after less than a minute of playing but the audio will keep playing. I need to exit an episode and select it again in order to fix the problem.

The problem only occurs on specific episodes. Some examples include Nobunaga Concerto Episode 1, Log Horizon Episode 4, Kids on the Slope Episode 2 and Hunter X Hunter Episode 18. Judging from the forums, many others have this problem too, and it is yet to be fixed.

I highly doubt it is a problem with my internet connection. The Netflix, Youtube and 4oD apps all work perfectly fine on my Roku device. And again, the problem only occurs on SOME episodes.

Do you have a solution to this? If not: is a fix in the works?"

This happens with my Streaming Stick (wireless 5GHz) also but not my Roku 2 XS (wired). Episode 13 (The Last Episode) of Dog & Scissors does this and I had to watch it on my PS4 (I had my Roku 2 boxed up at the time).

I'm having the exact same issue. For the time being, I'd recommend watching the affected episodes on a different device, or right on your PC, and then continue off from your Roku.

*Fortunately, it seems my issue is now gone, and everything's been working great so far.

I'm been having the same issue on my ipad since about 3 weeks ago.
For me it happens with most videos, every minute or so the video freezes! The audio may continue for a few seconds but the video elapsed time continues to run.

This is way more annoying that seeing the entire video pause/buffer, as it means I miss entire parts of the episode, and it takes double the time to watch as I have to constantly pause/exit the app/try to go back a few minutes.

Crunchyroll please fix, otherwise I am not sure what is the point of being a paying consumer.

Now I have started having this same issue, but it is happening on a number of shows. Nothing I have tried seems to fix it. I did get a video to play last night after a reboot, but it played without subtitles. That was different, but not exactly useful. I have to watch through Hulu. Other streaming services, such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Vudu, etc., etc., have no problems. I sent CR a detailed description of the problem. Their response leads me to believe they did not read my issue. I have already tried their suggestions. I will keep trying to get help with this frustrating issue.

This problem is getting pretty tiresome. It's mostly catalog titles that are affected, and I heard that it was tied to that giant outtage from back in 2014 in some way. I still am constantly finding the issue in an episode or two out of every single older season that I try to watch.

I have done some experimenting with the three Roku's I have at my house: a Roku 1, a Roku 2, and an older Roku 2 XD.

The Roku 1 and 2 encounter the problem in equal measure, yet for some strange reason the XD never has the problem at all.

Anyways CR, it is a problem on your end. Please don't send out garbage canned CS responses to people who have the issue like in the post above mine. That does nothing to help resolve the problem.
