The Color Of This Dress
Posted 2/26/15
It'd greatly help if the picture wasn't of the dress in someone's/something's shadow, but I lean towards it being white/ivory/off-white or a very light blue, with gold/bronze. I'm not satisfied with the crappy picture.

I think it has to do with the lighting.

To me, this looks like the same picture with excessive lighting effects. But I suppose I'll break out my photo editor so as to find the actual color composition of the photo.

—Blue and Black: In conclusion, your retina's cones are more high functioning, and this results in your eyes doing subtractive mixing.

—White and Gold: our eyes don't work well in dim light so our retinas rods see white, and this makes them less light sensitive, causing additive mixing, (that of green and red), to make gold."

And this user says he turned his phone's brightness from low to high and saw the colors switching.

Users who see it as white and gold have either defective eyes, or defective screens.

So I did every vision test technique there is to see what color the dress is. All I know is that I got 20/20 and the dress is staying black and blue.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. It's clearly a dress made for cuttlefish.

It started switching back and forth. and it did so based on the predominant colors in the background.

it's probably an optical illusion (of a more natural coincidental sort) that relies on what the colors surround it are.

Checking the values in gimp

(8596c1) which is a very pale blue (or a white in shade) and (5c4f3c) which is a grey in the gold spectrum.

yep it's a trick. There is supposed to be some reason for if you see black and blue. Kimchino posted the twitter thing revealing the answer. I still deny it though, because I won't be tricked by the Illuminati. *puts on tinfoil hat and rubs butter all over myself* I now will be protected from their evil clutches.
