Some people just assume I'll be sitting at the phone waiting for them.

Does the phone still ring if I'm not around to hear it?

That's not letting it ring, is it?

It depends on who it is! If it's someone I don't know or a bill collector, I may not answer it, or just hang up the phone.

Well, I'm not actively trying to stop it- so I'm still technically 'letting' it ring.

My thought was that if it doesn't ring while I'm not around; then I never let it ring. If it does ring while I'm not around; then I suppose my choice would change to 5 rings. After ringing that many times it'll go to voicemail.

It may be nonsense, but my vote is still up in the air.

I don't need a new phone- I need an old phone. I miss my old flip. Not a fan of the smart phones, really.

Me too. Smart phones suck.

I put it on silence and tell my family/friends to only call me if it is an emergency because it's a pain.

Mines on silent 24/7. All calls avoided and texts re-routed to chrome using Mightytext

Let it ring? I have my ringer turned off, like all the time (unless I am expecting a specific call, in which case I pick it up right away and can't tell how many rings it's been because it's a musical ring).

When I call someone I'll generally let it ring until their voicemail kicks in if they don't answer, but I don't call others often. If there seems to be no voicemail then it seems rude to let it ring too much so maybe, I dunno, 5 rings?

I answer it ASAP. You remember how Konata had a ringtone that makes her race to answer it before the chorus kicks in - well so do I.

Wait, I misread the question. I just let it ring out.
