*Looks at my phone messages*
My friend is the AT&T automated message telling me that I paid my monthly bill and I reached over 60%/90% of my data.

My definition of friend doesn't differ from "acquaintance" or even "some person I know" since it would be rude to introduce someone as "some person I know". Well, that's my current definition of it.

I had real friend back in high school but ever since I finished high school, I never really considered them my friends anymore since they all turned to people I can't really acquaint myself to.

But I really don't think much about it if someone does or does not have any friends. I've had a "friend" that use to always complain about not having "real friends". It literally annoyed the hell out of me. [The fact that I used "friend" above made me want to punch that person.]

Well, friends are someone you can talk to and rely on when you have problems .. Also, someone who understands you and accept you for what and who you are !

A Real-life friend offline is someone who you can depend on, who cares about you, and who will listen to you. Its someone who you know won't desert you in a time of crisis or need and when times are hard. Not a person that is there only for the good times and is nowhere to be found when things turn sour.

I have "contacts" and not many friends. If I am publicly honest 50% of my friends are from the web and the rest are those I personally know (roughly 50%). You aren't a friend if I only spoke to you once or said hi in passing. You are a friend if I can hold an intellectual or passionate conversation about a shared interest.

Frankly I don't want many friends as I feel like I would be torn apart trying to figure out which groups I value more, but I don't want to be the subject of scorn.

To me, a friend is not a mutual thing ("friends" are but not "friend").To be someone's friend is wanting to support another person and to be kind to them without incentive. That's why the singular term isn't mutual.

To be a genuine friend is one of the best things a person can be.

I think of a friend as just someone I can have a friendly conversations with while being myself! With that in mind I'm lucky to have a great many people I can do this with. I would say I have around 11 or 12 people I truly consider friends.

Someone who stands up for you when no one does. I have a friend who stood up for me when the people who I thought were my friend were being mean to me. And she also stood up for me in high school when a teacher wasn't going to give me a grade for a project we worked on all night on which resulted the teacher giving me a grade.

I don't have many friends but I don't need many friends to be happy.

I'm a bit of a recluse in that I don't have many friends "in real life" and around me. I don't really have any way to relate to most of my peers since I'm not into partying and alcohol and all that stuff. That and I always have the nagging feeling that people hate me by default. I have a few people I keep in touch with, and probably one really good friend or two, but aside from that, I'm a loner.

Online, I tend to be a bit more sociable. On one community for people like myself, I would consider everyone there my friend. Other places, like here, I like to meet people and talk. I really like to meet people from other places and cultures.

A friend is just someone you feel warmly towards. That tends to mean that they treat you well enough, of course, but I don't expect friends to "always have my back," or to "stand up for me when no one else does." Of course, if I do something wrong, I expect my friends would tell me - if I were to hurt somebody, I hope that they would disapprove. If a friend stands up for me, that's good, and it will make me happy, but it isn't expected. Maybe it's because I belong to a disliked minority, but I've long stopped expecting people to take a stand for me.

Do I pity people with no friends? yes, if the person seeks friendships but cannot find it. No, if the person is fine with solitude.

Sometimes i indulge in self-pity, because i do actually want a lot of friends, but don't have the ability to do it. i'm terrible at conversations. and... just found out i'm actually really shy when it comes to initiating something. Like i saw this totally awesome "Roy Mustang" cosplayer yesterday at free comics book day, and i wanted to take a photo with him... but like i totally couldn't do it. couldn't even take a step.

he was also quite attractive too, with his cute little State Alchemist jacket... anyway, i'm going off topics... what was i talking about?

Someone that you'd lend a roof to at times in need.
