So, I'm gonna start off this thread with a massive spoiler warning!

If you've not watched the latest episode of Parasyte (episode 21 as of this writing) then don't read what is posted below!

Feel free to post your own theories below or comment on my/other's theories. :D

First of all I'd like to clarify that I've not read the manga so if you have and my theory is proven to be correct then please don't tell if my theory is correct. If my theory is proven false then you may see my theory as a vision into the future of what may happen when the show is finished.

There's a "sex scene" between Shinichi and Murano in the end of episode 21.

And this made me think back on episode 7 where Migi tells Shinichi that his Fragments have scattered throughout Shinichi's body and that Migi has lost control of 70% of his fragments that's now in Shinichi's body while also hinting at the possibility of Shinichi becoming more of a "parasyte" thanks to this factor. That factor also happened to give Shinichi in human abilities.

So this made me think... What if Migi's fragments get's transferred over to Murano's egg cell inside one of Shinichi's sperms? If that's the case then Murano and Shinichi's off spring would have Migi's fragments inside his/her body... So the question then becomes, would that make their off spring a Parasyte/human hybrid or would it become something entirely new thanks to human and parasyte evolution.

Hence my theory is that maybe the "true goal" of the parasyte's never was to kill/eat/devour humans but acouly to merge into the human society so that one day humans and Parasyte's may become one and the same...

While it may be possible that some sort of hybrid could happen, I don't think that it's the 'goal' of the Parasytes.

Think about it; the entire series we've been seeing how the Parasytes are progressing from a creature of nothing but base desire to ones that have more and more in common with humans. Time and time again Parasytes like Migi and Tamura Reiko talk about how they don't know why they exist. They don't know why they are on Earth. Hell, we don't even learn that 'normal' Parasytes can live without eating humans until Tamura Reiko mentions it while the police are shooting her.

I think, overall, the Parasytes are akin to children. They have base desires and needs, but eventually begin to learn about the world around them and thus change over time. Each Parasyte reacts differently to this. Migi focuses on base survival, Tamura Reiko experiments, Gatou ignores it all and wants to live how he feels. An overarching goal for the species just doesn't really make sense.

Finally, Migi is the only Parasyte known that has fused with a human such as it has with Shinichi. Two Parasytes have sex and create an entirely human baby. If their ultimate goal was to create a true hybrid; why infect heads and take over the body? Once they learned that it didn't work, wouldn't they change directions and try something new? Wouldn't there be experiments with sex between a Parasyte and normal human? There's too many other factors that would have to take place (and be shown) to try to give the Parasytes a primary goal beyond survival.

And said six-month old offspring kill parasytes with their godlike intelligence, speed, power, and badass sexiness?
I'd be willing to believe this if the show was longer. As it stands, there's not enough time for Shinichi to gain prestige through his children.

Like I said, this theory applies for both the ending and beyond the ending as it what may happen after the series ends.

That may be true, but there's still a possibility of a hybrid between human and parasyte since Shinichi and Murano had sex in the latest episode.

I don't want to rule out the possibility, but they most likely did it unprotected since Murano just invited him over and it was late so convenience stores that sell condoms was most likely closed at the time they were doing their intercourse.

I mean, the manga finished over 20 years ago... you could always just read it. Episode 21 finished off volume 7, so all you have to do is read volume 8

It's not the goal the parasytes were after but it's an interesting notion. A possible sequel, one off special maybe?

I'd say that the child would be roughly 80% or 85% human with 10% or 15% being migi parasyte considering the child would be half shinichi & half Murano, with Shinchi being 30% parasyte/70% human.

The child could have less of the parasyte's abilities but could have far more enhanced human abilities. I suppose the child would be more a single entity rather than like Shinichi and migi.

Wonder if the anime will reflect on this at all or leave it as a fan speculation.
