I know I have what it takes to do this, but I want to know if any of you can point me in the right direction. I'm currently working on the script for the first volume of a manga series I'm creating. The thing is, even though, this is something I would like to do as a living, I'm not very good a drawing. I'm actually quite terrible. What I need is someone who is capable of bringing out my vision. I don't mean to be a choosy beggar, but it would be ideal if I could find someone with a style that won't be associated with anything that would be deemed typical. I'm looking for something more realistic, such as the art styles of Berserk and the Flowers of Evil, for example. Also I'm American, so that's just a further handicap. Please. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear back from some of you soon.

P.S. If any of you are interested, I'll be more than happy to post the descriptions I have of the main characters, just to give you guys a better idea of what I'm going for. Some feedback would be nice too, good or "critical".

Manga forums here are a good start. I'm not sure if you're just trying to become one in your spare time or as an actual profession. If your trying to make a career out of it then pretty much have to do Japan.

Look to Doujin circles too. Not all Doujin are porn, and many work on small original projects as well.

I imagine anime conventions, possibly school, college or university, maybe in the art department if you attend any of the listed & then once you've worked on a manga draft etc with the said manga artist & feel happy with the result head to Japan if you feel you have something that they will want to publish.

Actually most Doujin isn't porn at all, just stupid people always tend to group it with porn more often than not. I can't imagine trying to do Manga myself i could maybe do 1 character once but trying to do a full thing would be too hard for me i think.

Go to comiket and sell your doujinshi or manga there. There many mangaka that got their career star there. I think comiket is held twice a year so every year, you would have your chance to prove yourself.

Thank you all very much for the advice and positive feedback. There are other things I would like to do entertainment-wise, but I love writing more than anything and would like to make a career out of it. I would like to write for other things, such as novels, movies and video games. But I find manga to be the most compelling and a lot of good manga came from teams of two rather than just one guy. Like Death Note, for example.

Is Ichi the Killer considered under realistic art style to you?

Do a websearch for graphic artists in whatever manga style you are looking for (give examples of manga you like) and advertise your writing talents, I suppose. Try posting on e.,g. campus bulletin boards, etc that you're looking for visual artists for your stories.

Hi! I've moved this over to the "Creative Corner" forum. Might find some folks there!

If you can speak Japanese, Pixiv would probably be a good place to start, I know a few OELVNs have commissioned their art from Pixiv artists. There are also some English speaking artists on Pixiv, but they're mostly going to be Japanese, and some Taiwanese

Okay, thank you. I'm new to these threads, so wasn't exactly sure where to go.
