The glass is half-full and half-empty. I mean, one follows necessarily from the other (barring some third state the contents of the glass could be classified as.)

That's what I'd say if I saw the glass, anyway. But I didn't. I passed by, oblivious to the world around me, putting far too much mental energy into a completely different (and most likely irrelevant) train of thought.

The glass is full.
The contents are, by volume, 50% water and 50% air.

Maybe if the glass was in a vacuum, ... but then the water would boil ... does it count if the glass is a closed container and the amount of water vapor in it could condense to roughly half the glass's volume at room temperature and 1 atmosphere of pressure?

Technically, the glass could never be half full or half empty. You know the old theory that says you can never touch something because the distance between you and object x can always be divided in half? Same thing here. The distance between whatever's in the glass and the half-way point can always be divided by 2.

So, a more accurate way of phrasing the question would be, "Is the glass closer to being half-full or closer to being half-empty?" However, the interpretation of the answer to a question worded as such would be open to even more debate.

If someone was filling it then it's half full, and if someone was drinking it then it's half empty.

If I don't know which then I'm gonna assume someone was drinking it and not drink it in turn. I mean it seems more likely than someone going around filling up half glasses of water. I don't want some strangers nasty germ-juice.

Question why there is a glass with water in the first place. Then put it in the sick and do the dishes.

It's just half a glass of liquid to me. Like right now I got about 1/4 of a glass of tea left.
