This thought just randomly popped into my head :p
I prefer to watch anime with my friends rather than alone. I then thought "what if some of the CR community feels the same way?" and have decided to ask.

The basic concept is we watch anime simultaneously and have TS / Mumble/IRC open so we can talk about it while watching / after watching. This concept would work best for simulcasts.
I would have a forum thread open on the progresses of the anime we are watching and when we would watch it (probably weekly).

The rules I've already decided on are:
All anime PG-13>
No being mean and all of that stuff.
No spoiling shows.

So tell me what you think of the idea!

Update:

Mumble Server
Address: mumble.ganon11000.co.uk
Port: 64738
(I've only put in the anime I'm watching but can add more later)

IRC (Hexchat is my client of choice. If you don't have a client: http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=Crunchyroll ):
IP: irc.quakenet.org
Port: 6667
Channel: #Crunchyroll
(If you want a BNC just ask)

I will be watching Yona of the Dawn today (10/03/2015) @ 15:00 GMT and will be on the IRC.

How will you control potential annoyances. Like people breathing heavily into mics, spammers, and people intentionally disrupting the room?

I suppose you can set it as, "only talk after the showing." But then that would need to be based on schedules...?

Or create a separate room whenever you are ready to discuss and categorize it on series.

Actually I am pretty down for the idea.

it'd also be impossible to prevent people from spoiling the show
a site that only allows typed conversation would probably work better.

There are mute options server and client side ;)
There would be a schedule as to when stuff is being watched (most likely simulcasts)
I can also make as many rooms as needed (The server is in my house so I have full control)

I guess an IRC is also a good option?

you could try sites like cytube, which lets people to watch and comment /talk in real time.
i;ve been to the site and it worked well enough. the only hurdle is the video may be blocked for some users, though that's because of region block.

I think the people participating in this would be a good control group for a test run

I don't think that many users will be familiar with the use of proxies as a workaround.

I s'pose changing your host file to match a non-US-UK IP would be a good route, but I am not to big of a proxy guy (as I never needed to utilize one recently)

Yeah region block is really rare on most content.

Russia and China users are going to sit in the gutter though, they got the most blocks as far as I know.

i think the crown for most blocks would go for N Korea. Russia and China are certainly the next in line for the most blocks though.

well, just joined and nobody's there. the channel was empty. =p

edit: i really think it's better to use something like cytube b/c people can watch and comment at the same time
right from the browser, w/o needing to use an irc client or different tabs
