Guys come on; it wasn't a virus, it was bloatware that people opted for because they don't bother reading what the checkboxes mean when they install software. I use uTorrent, and will continue to because I pay attention to those check marks. Just watch what you're doing.

Have you noticed your PC slowing down recently? You could always check quickly by going into the taskbar and then look for the name EpicScale. If you find it in that list then you're affected.

I've yet to know of anyone that uses a mac including myself to ever get a virus.

I don't use torrents, never found them helpful for the most part.

There're two uses of torrents... First off the illegal file sharing and then download from specific companies who provide torrents for faster downloads then what their servers can provide.

There are plenty of viruses on all systems, but the reason for PC having more is because Windows have a bigger installbase and therefore blackhat hackers are more interested in that since they want to cause a living hell for as many people as possible.

But installbase isn't the only thing that makes Windows less secure, we've also got the fact that other operating systems like android, Linux and Mac's OSx have better control over what get's installed since you have to approve almost everything that get's saved on them.

Right i generally don't use torrents at all period, never found a use for them legal or illegal. Never said macs can't get them just never heard of anyone actually getting one.

I know it's not a real virus since it doesn't really do harm to your PC, but it's still annoying... Hence why I made this thread.

Yea, something that installs silently even if you disagree sounds like a really legit thing for a massive company to do... http://forum.utorrent.com/topic/95041-warning-epicscale-riskware-silently-installed-with-latest-utorrent/ Mind you this is from the official Utorrent forum!

I usually always click customize install to decline all the other offer crap they put to install on my computer.

But luckily, I only use Vuze, though I hardly use torrent so I don't open and update it as often.

My other question would be who the fuck uses bitcoins!?!??!?!?!?!?!?! Other than drug users I mean...

Haveing an anonymous untracked currency for internet purchases is actually something that should exist in a more legitimate form. In the real world I can pay cash, but no matter what I buy on the internet, it is documented by someone. (Unless you set up a dummy cash card with a fake identity.)

So, nerds. Paranoid libertarian nerds like me.

Or there's the simpler and less traceable method of getting cash payments and paying for things in cash..... >.>
