Serves anyone right for using a shitty client.

Just updated my uTorrent a couple days ago.
Then read an article about this "Epic Scale" crap.
Freakin' scoured my computer's files for such a thing....
Found nothing.
CPU usage looks normal.

I think I just got trolled.. -_-

oh yes they can still get viruses, there's just not nearly as many as windows but you can still get a virus.

Some companies use torrents to make downloads faster. Torrents doesn't=illegal crap... Even if that's what most people use it for...

I do use an old version of utorrent. Not going to harm anything, considering I use it so rarely and don't ever keep it up for longer than it takes me to download. I typically don't update software as long as it's still working, unless it's something that runs through the browser (flash, java etc). Not too concerned about security because prevention is the best security you can have, and I've been using the internet long enough to know what to avoid.

Fortunately I've never used a torrent client for anything but downloading Katawa Shoujo, since that's the only way to get it... I don't really know of any legal use besides that for bit torrents, so anyone who gets a virus from using one will get no sympathy from me.

I use Vuze or BitTorrent. Lucky me I've never used uTorrent, lmao. But it's an interesting thing they have going on.

There are plenty of companies out there like Canonical that allows you to download their software faster if you download using a torrent. There're other companies who use torrents for their legit downloads, this is just a douche move by uTorrent... And yes, most torrent users use torrent software for illegal stuff, but there's still a lot of legal uses for it out there. Hence why torrents aren't made illegal in any country.

BitTorrent and uTorrent are practically one and the same since both are sub-divisions of the same company... Therefore meaning BitTorrent might try something similar.

That's why, if im going to download something, I'll generally use the internet.
Torrents are starting to have more FBI / government honeypot sites and generally have a higher likelihood of infecting your computer, so if I'm going to download something, I'd rather use the internet / file hosting sites instead for download.

Well I have uTorrent updated to the lastest version and I don't see any EpicScale anywhere. Most of the time they have an option to decline offers (like EpicScale) in the installation process.

Still, I have switched to a different client.
