My friend and I tooled around with doing a podcast centered around video games a few years ago. It was launched initially in 2012, but we struggled to dial in our rapport, then re-launched the next year with a lot of improvements. But we never really generated the momentum to get it off the ground. Other things in our lives would get in the way and it would be trapped in a rescheduling hell, where it was eventually put on hiatus.

We've done fairly well in our main businesses (video production as well as owning an indie MORPG on Steam), so we decided to be more serious about the project, and we've actually invested money into it this time around, which among some major gear upgrades, has also included paying for additonal female co-hosts.

So if you like this sort of thing, give it a listen and let us know what you think!

I'm Jared on there by the way.

I'm just going to post all of the previous episodes in this thread. Episodes 1-3 were pretty rough so we removed them a while ago. The playlist begins with episode 4. It isn't necessary to listen to these older episodes, but just posting them here for posterity:

Episode 4 Released July 9th, 2012

Episode 5 Released July 16th, 2012

Episode 7 Released March 5th 2015
http://gamersmustdie.com/2015/03/episode-7-then-i-get-to-not-kill-myself/

This episode introduces our new co-host Alex as well as our Ombudsman Sarah (not so subtle nod to Red Eye with this segment).

"On this week’s episode we talk about the movement to stop pre-ordering games in 2015, and the perils of being an indie developer as illustrated by both Notch and Phil Fish. We also talk about Nintendo’s Amiibo shortages (and what Amiibos actually are for the uninitiated), and briefly discuss Majora’s Mask 3D and whether or not you should get a New 3DS specifically for the C-Stick in that game."

New episode released today. Not sure if I'm going to update this thread weekly in the long term or not. But I think I will at least for the time being.

We're still working out some kinks with the integration of the new co-hosts, but I think the episode turned out pretty decent, if not a little too lengthy. I was also sick as hell during the recording, but oh well :P

Episode 8
http://gamersmustdie.com/2015/03/episode-8-dissociating/

"As we continue to fine tune the show’s format this week, Alex begins with a brief summary of GTA Online’s new heist mode. After that it’s on to this week’s news, which includes the recent announcement of Rock Band 4, Sid Meier’s new Starships game, and a chat about the upcoming FFXIV expansion.

After the “Halftime Checkup” with Sarah, Ben talks about his struggles to find a hard copy of Zelda: The Ocarina Time 3D before describing his brief time as a game tester at Nintendo. As Sarah points out at the end, it’s “all downhill” from there…"

Bonus Episodes!

We're also releasing the interview podcasts we did for our two new co-hosts Sarah and Alex.

We had over 20 applicants, and of those we ended up conducting 9 'test podcasts.' Choosing only two out of what ended up being a pretty large talent pool was a pretty hard task!

Bit of an off week for me at least because I was on vacation, but the podcast has kept chugging along!

Episode 9
http://gamersmustdie.com/2015/03/episode-9-cut-the-disc/

Jared is out this week, and we decided to invite our new staff writer Becky Campbell onto the podcast to join the discussion. You’ll see her articles popping up on the site soon, but in the meantime she has a lot to say about Minecraft violence and a new game called Ori and the Blind Forest.

Nintendo just announced plans to bring their IPs to smartphones, so the team combs through the press conference to figure out what this news actually means. Later on we take a dive into a Gamestop dumpster, then talk to Becky about her initial impressions of Sid Meier’s Starships.

We've also worked on more ways to distribute the show, detailed in this blog post:

I'm back on the podcast this week!

Episode 10
http://gamersmustdie.com/2015/03/episode-10-words-to-never-say-out-loud/

After covering recent news that includes Bloodborne and Mass Effect 4, Ben, Alex and Jared riff on the Dreamcast running in 480p, portrayals of females in video games, and the death of arcades.

We're quite late with the episode release this week, since our next recording session is literally tomorrow But that's ok, better late then never!

Episode 11
http://gamersmustdie.com/2015/04/episode-11-bang-the-whole-rainbow/

At the top of the show Alex plugs Obsidian’s new game Pillars of Eternity, and then it’s onto news. This week the team covers the delay of Zelda on Wii U, the Halo 5 reveal trailers, and also some fuss over the resolution of The Witcher 3 on consoles.

Fresh off of her visit to ECCC, Sarah is back to conduct the half time checkup before joining in on two brand new segments: “The Top 3 List of the Week” and “The Worst Thing That Ever Happened To Us… This Week”.

Bonus, later this evening we're going to release our first episode of an anime centered podcast called Otakus Must Die. It's kind of a passion project for me, so I'm pretty excited. I'll probably actually make a separate thread for it because the only association it'll have with Gamers Must Die will be the people talking. The tentative plan for that will be to make it into either a monthly or bi-weekly podcast.
