There's a certain fascination with the "unnatural" which I guess is what people think when they see a girl and a girl or guy and guy kiss. I like to read the stuff because it's pretty good, but Im straight, and dont think there's anything wrong with it.

I read through all the posts so far, but I think this says it best. We tend to become curious about things we don't know or don't understand.

Personally, I've been taught since a young age that there's nothing wrong with it, love is as love is kind of thing. I've always been a huge bookworm too, so since I was a kid, I've read tons of stories with all sorts of odd and illicit relationships, homosexual ones being amongst the more natural (seriously, I won't go into detail). That being said, I see homosexual relationships as normally as I see heterosexual ones. So, you know, if I see a hetero couple I can think "Wow, they really suit each other, they look great together," etc, so why can't I think a girl x girl or boy x boy couple suits each other too?

Most people may not be as used to the concept of homosexuality, so they tend to obsess over it excessively. For example, my older brother came out when he was about 14 years old. Ever since, people asked me all sorts of questions about his relationships and love life. I often hear comments along the lines of "too bad he's gay, he's so good looking," etc. And they'll continue questioning me or wanting to see pictures of him, like he's some sort of exhibit or specimen. Even people he grew up with his whole life. On the other hand, there are those, like me, who were never taught it was "wrong," and those people kind of shrugged and said things like "oh, he's gay? good for him, has he found someone?" and similar things.

Anyway, I'm just taking the roundabout way of saying a majority of the first world society has been taught in some form or another, at some point or another, that homosexuality is "wrong," but now there are enough voices saying "it's okay," so people are much more open about their curiosity and their desire to understand it. Well, that's just my opinion, but I do have a rather first hands experience dealing with the different levels of acceptance and curiosity, and I always try to inquire about how people feel about it. I don't get upset or angry with the people who think badly of it, because it's usually in their upbringing.

All that being said, I'm rather glad it's a more common topic and is gaining more understanding. Homosexuality has been around for a long, long, looong time. Love is as love is.

Sorry, that was a bit crude. Allow me to elaborate.

I guess for a change of pace, I won't lie there's a part in me (and probably most of us) that want to see two people of the same gender make out but it kinda changes what's from the norm. there are countless romance manga and other forms of entertainment that are the standard male/female relationship but when it comes to yuri (maybe yaoi too, haven't tried) the way they move into the relationship is different than normal. I might read a yuri manga to change up what I usually read at times, but I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with them.

Personally, I'm not. And I know people who don't even really like the idea of the real life equivalents, but still like the fantasy.

It's rather strange. Oh well, thus is life.
