I'm not really sure what the rant is about, but I can assure you that the current situation is a WHOLE LOT better than it was a few years ago before they had legal licensed on-line streaming of anime. Back then I can remember waiting months for a DVD to show up in the store with a mere four episodes on it for $25-30 apiece. That's $100+ for ONE series for a 12 episode season that you might wait the better part of a year to see the whole thing.

I remember paying $150 for the likes of Escaflowne and Trigun back in the day and this was when both series were a few years old. It defo wasn't a cheap hobby. I do miss the pretty packaging in the 00s though.

And even that was heaven compared to the VHS days, where if you could even find it were $30 tapes, 3 episodes a tape and only 1 choice of language.

3 episodes!?!? Where??? Most of mine were 1-2 per tape and if you wanted sub and dub you bought two. And dub was cheaper!!! I still have my tapes from the 80's and 90's. Good times, buying them sight unseen at my comic store every week. Inviting friends over to see Ninja Scroll and Wicked City, scarring them mentally for life..,

Making us excited for the announcements every day so we keep coming back to the site to check. It's called marketing. Every company does some form of it.

Also, they may have a Non Disclosure Agreement or may not get the anime signed until the last minute.

Ah the VHS days. I wish I'd have held onto mine. I had boxed sets of Ranma 1/2 and Bubblegum Crisis as well as others with the cool image effect when you put all the covers together in the box.

I didn't realize how far behind we were with releases in the US till I got my hands on Newtype USA.

When will CR and Funi just hurry up and fuck? I really want to know that too! That's what this is about, right?

Really, I probably don't have nearly enough knowledge to contribute anything of worth to the thread, so...
