It's been ages and ages since you destroyed our roku app. We've been begging for help, for updates, and for communication from you. A lot of us have quit paying for premium, or left completely, out of sheer frustration. This is a failure on your end. We need to know what to expect going forward.

So come on already. What the hell is going on? Talk to us!!!!!

Well there was a new update recently. there are some minor improvements.

The menus navigation is not nearly as annoying or confusing now and the interface over all seems a bit more streamlined and makes more sense now. Still annoyed that I have to use the FFW and RW buttons only to scan and fast forward through a show, but the button navigation through the menu is a slight improvement. The commercials are not constantly repeating, as well a more of a variation of ads as well then the same 2 ads repeating 3 times in a row. Also my videos do not seems to be constantly freezing. So over all it's an improvement. I may actually consider paying again now.

I want to hear from crunchyroll. I'd like some indication they actually care AT ALL about their roku customers. They don't communicate with us, they don't check this forum, they don't respond to our emails other than to tell us to change our settings as if this was our fault and not theirs. This is not acceptable. They've done this to the 360 and k-drama people too. I'm just requesting that someone that works at this company talk to the customers of said company. If even that is too much...

I'm waiting, crunchy.

Destroyed? As my secondary(*) active CR box, I don't find it very destroyed.

- It plays my queue, in HD quality
- It tends to play start-to-finish nearly all of the time
- Familiar interface. So I can operate it pretty identically to my PS3. Although needing to pay a bit of attention to button differences between platforms or apps. (Which, for me, is a pretty common thing to have to do between media apps, media platforms or even differing 3D videogames)

TL;DR
It plays anime.

(*) In fact, the only reason the Roku is my secondary (bedroom) box rather than my primary (living room) one is that I find the AppleTV and Roku both equally good at watching CR and YouTube, but it is other apps/functions that are platform specific that I need in each respective room.

Still waiting to hear from crunchyroll.

Awesome that your roku app experience is almost not wrecked, though. Most roku users use it as their primary streaming device, so your cross-platform convenience is not my main concern. Thanks and all, though.

As someone who uses Roku as my main device as well, I too am frustrated at their lack of updates on the rewind/fast-forward functionality. That is the only problem I have at the moment though. Could you list the problems you are having? Maybe I am missing something. Either way, it is a good idea to create a common list we as Roku device users could bring up to the administration as to what we want fixed. If you tell me the problems you are having I can add them to my list as well and we can possibly get them fixed.

they take so long to respond to you because of the amount of apps they have for the site. they figure if one system doesn't work for you you'll still be ok because you have something else to watch the video's on. i know its frustrating and wrong but that's how a lot of these video streaming companies think.

Any idea if the constant "unexpected error" crashing is going to stop when this update comes out? Because right now, the Roku app is practically useless. On rare occasion, it will work and play an episode all the way through, but far more often it plays a tiny bit, then crashes, takes a lot of time to get back to the main page (sometimes longer than it played!), and repeats -- play a little, crash, wait, main menu, etc. I do enjoy using my Roku to watch Crunchyroll sometimes, but right now I can't. It's not my connection like the error message suggests, because other devices like my computer and Android device work fine. It's not the Roku, because other channels on it play fine. It's Crunchyroll's app on the Roku. It needs some kind of update/fix, and having read that others also have issues with it (whether it's the same as mine or not), I'm sure we would all appreciate a fix ASAP. Thanks.

Out of curiosity, which model Roku do you have? I haven't had this issue on my Roku 3.

On rare occasions I get this message, and I'm almost always immediately able to go back to the main page and go back in to my episode, and have it play fine. (The only exception has been a couple of times when it's not been just on Roku but CR as a whole having issues).

Still, I watch on my Roku a lot, and this happens so infrequently that for me it's a non-problem. Sorry you're having more trouble, but I just wanted to say something since it seems that not all Roku-users are having the problem you are.

TheAncientOne: I have a Roku 2 XS. The Roku 3 wasn't out when I bought mine. Also, when it did come out, my understanding was that it only worked with HDTVs, which we don't have, so I never considered getting the newer model.

lorreen: I never said that all Roku users are having the same problems as me. I just don't think I'm alone in having issues given what I've read around here before. I'm glad it works fine for you, but I'm getting so many "unknown errors" nearly every time I try to watch anime that it's essentially useless right now, and I am fairly sure that the problem isn't on my end. I'd appreciate it if Crunchyroll would acknowledge the problem and look into fixing it.

Hmm...I had seen reports that indicated the CR app might have issues with the generations prior to the Roku 2 (such as my older Roku XD|S), but I would have expected the Roku 2 series to be clear on that front.

Yes, the Roku 3 only has an HDMI port, so at the very least a TV set needs that. While the Roku 3 will apparently output as low as 480p (despite it not being a men option), I seriously doubt anyone would have a 480p TV set with HDMI, so it could be effectively considered to be HD only.
