Should pot be legal?
Posted 3/10/15
Regardless whether it is in your country already or no,

do YOU think it should be legal or remain such, and why, discuss.

It should be illegal... Case closed!

I do think it's a bad idea to allow big business into the field, due to what they did to tobacco and what they're doing with vaporizers.

Other than that, i say sure why not. It's unlikely to ever be 100% legal on the federal level in the US.

I think it should be legal but regulated. Thorough research ought to be done to inform the public of what they are potentially getting into. It IS quite a nice painkiller and doesn't seem quite as harmful as tobacco. With enough research, we may even be able to isolate the painkilling agent and put it into a more efficient pill form without smoking or that strong high.

Pot is, admittedly, nice after a very stressful ordeal and is also pretty good for pain. At least I don't think people ought to be jailed for pot crimes. It's basically a dried, ground up plant bud. I get very irritable when I take vicodin or other prescription painkillers, and standard pain meds did not work for my pain when I had a gum infection. Pot worked very well there. It acted quickly and mellowed me out without making me too lazy if I used a proper dose.

But it makes me want to punch someone in the face whenever I hear something like "smoking weed is totally harmless." Those people are just trying to justify their chronic use or psychological addiction and I can't approve of that.

You're inhaling the product of combustion in the form of smoke, you idiot. Burning material entering your lungs is never harmless simply because it's freaking burning material. Perhaps a better case can be made with vapor or steam but, even then, I can't claim there are no risks. There are several ways to use pot, and they may have varying risks of harm, so I don't think it would be fair to treat them all equally.

My main issue with anti-pot people is that it seems most of them have not tried it and they do not understand what they are demonizing. Sure, there might be some health risks but there is also a powerful benefit that, I think, is worth that possible health risk. Just as I think sake is great and hookah is great, pot is great in its own way. I'm not for pot abuse but, geez, people abuse everything, including over-the-counter and prescription meds. You won't be able to stop people who abuse things simply by banning everything. It would be like banning scissors because there's a risk that some kid will do something stupid and lose an eye or finger.

Yes, because then we wouldn't have to stop eating or having orgasms.

Its funny how many people have that misconception about it being harmless. You take more of it in and hold in the smoke for longer, than you do tobacco. Burning any substance releases chemicals not normally present in the dormant state. Also the average person that smokes it tends to eat less healthy and larger amounts in general.

Although the best reason for it to go legal is to free up police time and jails for possession of a certain amount.

Sure, why not?
Then my country can just tax the shit out of it like what they do with alcohol.

I think it should be legal because frankly I don't like criminalising almost a third of young people for doing something dumb. If you really want it to be illegal then at least consider fines rather than locking people up for a habit which while ultimately destructive to ones self represents no worse a risk than other perfectly legal activities. That war on drugs is working so well right now we've been on the verge of winning since we started.........

I feel it should be legal. my business if i want to get high when I'm at home. People drink, and that has been proven more dangerous than smoking 'pot'. In Colorado they said the state made so much money, there was talk of giving some back! who cares if some makes some money. gov't gets a cut, i eat a bag of cheetoes for lunch watching anime, and life goes on.

I cant understand why it should be illegal..

Edit- Proven may be the wrong word, rather "several studies have concluded"

The beauty of science is that it evolves

I doubt it would make much difference. People who sell it will still sell it and people who smoke it will still smoke it regardless of if it's legal or not.
