Hey, babe. Do you remember the time when I...

I don’t do yoga, never tried Pilates
Not many people want me at their parties
Tryna find my place, some place, oh I, oh I, oh I
And I drink a little more than recommended
This world ain’t exactly what my heart expected
Tryna find my way someway, oh I, oh I, oh I

See, whoa, c’est la vie
Maybe something’s wrong with me
But, whoa, at least I am free, oh, oh, I am free
Yeah, whoa, c’est la vie
Maybe something’s wrong with me
But, hey, at least I am free, oh, oh, I am free

If you ask the church then I am no believer
Spend Sundays asleep I'm just another dreamer
Still tryna find my home sweet home, oh I, oh I, oh I
And I guess I ain’t too good for money neither
I got two left feet, no, I'm no Jackson either
Just tryna find my way someway, oh I, oh I, oh I

See, whoa, c’est la vie
Maybe something’s wrong with me
But, whoa, at least I am free, oh, oh, I am free
Yeah, whoa, c’est la vie
And maybe something’s wrong with me
But, whoa, at least I am free, oh, oh, I am free

Just tryna find my home sweet home, sweet home, sweet home, sweet home,
I drink a little more than recommended
'Cause this ain’t exactly what my heart expected

It really just depends on the type of person and what they have going on in their lives.

I don't know, Image a young child in your head right now, then picture all the old people in nursing homes ^-^ I'm going to assume it depends on the person and say that it varies.

Life is short, and a kid*cough cough* having been sheltered and surrounded with structure and order , as they get out and on their own, they have more freedom to make their own decisions, as they age they want to try more things, and before you know it they're not young anymore but that doesn't hamper their thirst for adventure and want to try newer things. But this is hella naive to generalize everyone that way, ......... a lot of 'normal' ppl are the type to settle down with husband and children and live in the suburbs. .. the "american dream"
Also factoring in Alzheimers for a small percentage of the population and also, no, unless trying new stuff while not being aware you're doing it and being unable to remember it counts ..

Some are adventurous only when young.
Others become adventurous as they get much older.
Then there's those who are not adventurous at all.
And those those who are forever adventurous throughout their entire lives.

Depends on how you define "adventurous". The chart above that karmacide posted is actually a fairly close representation of one's attitude as you age, but I'm not sure if it's entirely accurate with one's proclivity to being physically adventurous as you age... at least as how I define "adventurous".

Hollywood likes to portray "old people" as a bunch of bucket list checkers who travel around the world crapping in their Depends, jumping out of planes, and eating live bugs at some dirt floor cafe in Morocco. And even though that fits my definition of adventurous, I don't think it's entirely accurate for the majority of ageing people in the world.

I think most people as they age realize they don't want to die having spent their entire life giving a shit about other people's opinion of them or their ideas. Believe it or not, but you finally hit an age where another's harsh words of your clothing, weight, or faith don't fucking matter. But this is a double edge sword as you can either slunk into an absolute slob or an adult with a sense of self pride. It's one or the other: crazy cat lady shopping at Wal-Mart or sage.

If that's what you mean about "adventurous" then yeah, most older people realize caring about what people think of them is a delusion.

However, most old(er) people don't pine away to jump out of planes and actually become less physically adventurous because, you know, we fall a lot.

A lot.

And shit breaks. And it's expensive. Very.

I think once you get to be elderly, even if you are adventurous, you can't do much since by that time you're with a cane/wheelchair/barely can move.

*Shrug* I'm more adventurous than my younger self. I have a car, money, experience with women, and tons of interests. I can go hunting with my sister's husband whereas before I doubt I'd have been up to it.

I don't see how that confidence will just go away as I get older, but I guess my knees might start hurting around 60. Still, there are plenty of experiences that don't require that much walking.

But my favorite is the missionary, if that's what you meant. So adventurous.

Best post so far. Don't worry about the knees. You'll get new ones with money.

While the other posts... well... nice chart... for firewood.

I've maintained an equal amount of adventurousness all my life so far. I'm a bit smarter now, though. Not in the IQ kind of way, but in the learning from mistakes kind of way. That's why I will never gamble, ever again.

Many levels to unlock. Bet the hardest when you're the oldest

I am realizing that my body takes longer to heal than it did 10 years ago. So, with that in mind, I have adjusted how hard I push when I am skiing or riding. It's not much fun laying around with an ice pack or heating pad for weeks because I decided to pretend I was 25 again.

The bright side is, I ski and hike and ride with plenty of folks 20 and 30 years older than me. Some of them can really tear it up too.

I've always kinda done what I wanted to do. The older I get the more things I have a chance to do so maybe in a way I'm more adventurous by default.

I encourage everyone to take chances and try new things, short of loosing a limb, life, or liberty there just isn't much bad that really will happen. I'm not saying break the law, just go out an enjoy life.
