Post Reply Why I would vote for an atheist/scientist for president over a religious one.

The rule of majority doesn't apply to all in this case. You can believe whatever the hell you want and still be competent and trustworthy to make rational decisions.

86% of the Scientist in the world happen to be Atheist. So them being Synonymous is almost the case.

So every atheist is a scientist?

Coming from the person who complains about threads yet keep posting in them.

Anyhow the thread is about a ATHEIST AND A SCIENTIST. Someone who is both, not talking about an atheist, but about electing someone who is both Atheist and a Scientist.

I complain about flaming threads, sure. And where is the proof you are a scientist? Some fancy schematic or equation you copied and pasted for all I know on your webpage? You know there are con,men who impersonate Juris Doctors and pass bar exams like in the movie Catch Me if You Can, so sell to me you're a scientist with a pasted Ph.D, that would be adorable. Rhetoric won't suffice, either, nor will your firiends' endorsements. Besides I don't really care if you ARE a scientist, you're not a very good one if you think someone's religious views determine their ability or what decisions they will make or what motivates those decisions. Sorry for the typos, I'm rushing out the door.

Oh come on I just had Fuko award you with a starfish on another thread. You can't win twice in a row, that's not fair. Eh whatever you can win again.

In answer to OP's question I do not care what they believe or not believe in as long as they actually do some good for the country.

I can't help but feel like this is a troll thread. Either that or the OP seriously believes the nonsense he's saying.

There are too many farfetched assumptions here:
1. Someone who is both a scientist and atheist will make decisions based on evidence.
2. Someone who believes in religion is incapable of using evidence to make decisions.
3. Someone who is religious and a scientist isn't as qualified as someone who isn't religious and uses science.
4. People who go to war with no evidence are acting based on religious beliefs.

You see where I'm getting at? Its scary that I can gather this much from just a few short posts. I really hope the OP is trolling and doesn't honestly believe this stuff.

That's like saying why would I vote for a gay person over a straight. Or a female over a male. Get in this century please. But most politicians lie anyways, they have all that in common-- at least in the U.S. Plus atheist and scientist are not the same things, at least Google definitions before you argue. You're supposed to judge people on their personality and actions.

I'd like to see a president that is knowledge about science, there's too many lawyers in congress making decisions on things that they don't understand. Based on what some people in our government have said, it seems many of them lack even a basic understanding of science.

That's why they employ many men to tell them many things. After that they weigh the political cost of such choices.

Why an Atheist.scientist for president!

A religious president makes decisions based on Faith
, the ideal that Believing it to be true is good enough even wen there is no evidence for it, or the evidence shows the opposite to be true.

Now an Atheist scientist expects evidence before making any big decisions, and will revers decisions if evidence is found to counter ones ideals, or goals. (why would you not want a president that made sound decisions over discisions made based on personal opinions and faith?)

Example..: we believe that country A. is building weapons of mass destruction, because my gut tells me so. and so we start a war with them killing millions and invading a potentially innocent country. (plus wasted billions on having are troops over there, plus the cost of the bombs and weapons used. )

Wile the more rational atheist/scientist would seek out evidence before potentially alienating a country for something they may not be doing. (plus find ways to improve are country instead of running it into the dirt for their own agendas.)

No, pretty sure all presidents make decisions based off a council of advisors and intricate reports as well as donor influence.

The irony here is that you are making a claim with no supporting evidence.

Whether or not you believe there was a case for WMD's or if it was a false accusation to go to war for oil related purposes, I would bet my left nut (my most prized of the pair) we did not start any conflict in the middle east based off of a gut feeling.

About three seconds of looking at your post, I don't usually care about grammatical errors but this is a bit much when you are trying to be taken so seriously.

Side note: you didn't mention any source for where you got that "86 percent of scientists are atheists" stuff. I assume this is because "My ass" is hard to cite?
