You know, buddy, I have to ask. What, if any, was the real point of this thread? Crunchy has an off-topic forum, 'course people are gonna write dumb stuff. Including debate threads about religion and whatnot.

I'm not your buddy. The real point of this thread is that a bunch of stupid idiots are trolling the same shit over and over, the same thing re-worded so as not to be deleted endlessly. The moderators are off jacking off to give a damn, basically.

Buddy is something I say to almost everyone, usually without even realizing it, pay it no mind.

Look, I'm not one to pry, but I doubt creating this thread is going to resolve the 'issue'. All I can say is welcome to the Internet, and I don't mean that in a condescending way. My friends and I have discussions like this all the time. On the internet people can hide behind the wall of anonymity and because of that they can conduct themselves in basically any way they want, with restrictions of course. It's something you can't really do anything about, and even mods have limits because they too are only human.

Precisely. It never get's old, but we are educated to always give the benefit of the doubt, and to listen. But sometimes who we tolerate is offensive to our good senses, and it gets to be enough for anyone sooner or later. Only those idiots who live for trouble keep it the fires burning.

All they give me is a headache.
Most arguments just go something like this:
"You're stupid!"
"No, you're stupid!"
"No, you're stupid, and your opinion is dumb!"
Etcetera...
Yeah, it's nice to have a great discussion every now and then, but most people prefer to simply spew hate. We are all built with different opinions embedded into us and that's just how it is. If someone has a different opinion about something, what's the problem? Unless they're being hateful or harmful to others of course.
...If only it was that easy.

Negative content is unavoidable when a threadmaker's sole purpose is to flame. And it's not the fault of someone expressing righteous indignation at something offensive or outrageous.

Yes. You're absolutely right, but sometimes it's worth it to not get involved. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's a waste of a good intention to speak a proper, harmless opinion, when it's almost obvious that you will be hit with a large paragraph of someone else's negative opinion. Even if you just want someone to see from your perspective and not change their opinion, it's likely that they will retort with what they already have made clear to believe. I just don't believe that it's worth my time.

Some people get visible bent out of shape when they see someone that disagrees with them. This shit runs deep, and knowing nothing about their background the only thing you can do is give them the benefit of the doubt and leave it alone.

What can you do to stop them?

You know, i've started looking at them like a video game.

What do I mean? Well, think about it. In a video game, there's essentially a never-ending war going on. Even when you're not playing, there are other people in the matchmaking system. You just jump in whenever you feel like it to kill time since you know nothing is going to be accomplished. That's how i'v started looking at religious threads.

And to those who think something will be accomplished, i'd like to remind people that these exact same debates have literally been going on for about 3000 years AT LEAST.

So I say just keep 'em. It's like a a video game matchmaking system. Just jump in on whatever side you want when you get bored. Win or lose - it will still be there tomorrow either way, so don't stress out over it. Just get better at playing the game

Is that a thing here too? A user who is something of a militant atheist who masturbates over his supposed intellectual superiority over a Christian fundamentalist and failing to realize that at their core, they are essentially the other side of the same coin?

There is no need to draw a fierce line in the sand here. One can draw inspiration and enlightenment from both Science and Religion and practice both effectively without completely condemning one.

So you are essentially saying there should be no limit to stupid behaviour, and it is our duty as mature readers to let it slide without so much as a word and let them dominate the forums. Just say "lie down and be my bitch" , it conveys the same thing.

Hey, if you're that upset about the content on here, maybe you should take it to the mods instead of us. Also, if you think it's not ok for others to "tell you where to go" or call you "buddy" then you shouldn't tell me to say "lie down and be my bitch." I'm sorry, but your attitude isn't necessary to get your point across.

You summed up those threads perfectly. You shall receive an award for your truthfulness. So Fuko, what does Kimchino get?

Its just sad. I absolutely hate having these discussions on a freaking anime forum. Like come on is this really the place and time to have this discussion. I just end up hating every side in these arguments.

yeah but 3000 years ago an atheist could not say a damn thing without being killed for not believing in a gods, hell 1000 years ago people would have been torn apart by horses if they did not believe in a god, about 200 years ago people would be thrown in a river tide to some rocks to drowned to death, they live they must be a witch, and they are then burned alive. 100 years ago people would have forces Atheist out of their homes and make them leave town.

So yes we finely can speak up without being killed for it. (still we have to be careful, you can still lose your home and job if people find out your an atheist in many places in America. Plus there are still countries killing atheist daily.) So yes Internet is a zone where we can speak out against the irrational without fear of losing ones life, or home.
