These are the sorts of posts which make reasonable conversation impossible in a topic which many on both sides have emotional and reasonable investment in.

And yet, im not wrong. If you'd actually read any threads about religion, you'd see that noone uses and facts or evidence so it eventually devolves to nothing more than people shouting their OPINION at each other and claming its fact and then saying anyone who doesnt agree is wrong.

So you're doing exactly what the OP was complaining about, ok...

You are right. No one attempts to give evidence for a man who is imaginary and floating in the sky. People do however attempt to provide a reason for why they believe, using a variety of methods, either evidence of revelation, logical inference or some other method in order to convince the other side of the existence of God, but not of an imaginary man in the sky. These may or may not convince some and you may call these opinions, but they are an argument, either a strong or weak argument but certainty not mere subjective opinion.

But are you really the best judge of who is giving evidence? Granted the debates here might not be the greatest, but since you cannot even identify what the people you disagree with believe, how can you possibly be fair and open minded on this issue when it is evident that you have a deep hostility towards religion and theism? Anything I say will just be an opinion to you.

Give them a sub forum and block threads from that forum showing up on the latest threads on the main page. Those that want to engage in debating faith on the internet can go there. Maybe the lets have a argument on the internet sub-forum they could even have a special subscription fee it not like its not been done before.

Might be time to start gathering those dragon balls then or resign ourselves to eternal "lets have a fight" topics.

It's the same shit I read since 2007. Now, it's 2015. It's just one user trying to look smart over another and another and another and another. It's not about awareness.

I just play Uncharted. The religious crap and conspiracies are more entertaining when I play video games.

Lets all have a thread burning! Yeeee Haa!!

Seems to me it's not that people "made up" the idea of God (or gods), but that people made up the idea that none exist (they even beet the "religious" crowd many times over when it came to killing). Discussion is a good and healthy thing in this society, so bring it on; after all it is only a General thread.

As much as its somewhat difficult to reply to you without reinforcing the point your making, its not somuch that we want no discussion so much as continuous discussion on the same topics forever. Discussion and debate is great we should totally have that in our society, just maybe not everywhere, all the time to the detriment of other interactions.

i like the idea of a sticky and while we're at it make a sticky for political and science threads. that will probably satisfy those who secretly plot for the resurrection of ED. this is not the lazarus project!

I know I sure don't. They always break down into arguments where everyone gets ticked off, and an anime website isn't the place you should be if you want those sorts of discussions. It becomes a one-man circlejerk where one person is trying to appear superior over another, and at the end of the day everyone walks away with their mind unchanged. They're a waste of time and do no good for anybody. This should be a place we come to for fun, not to become enraged because other people have different viewpoints on religion to us. If you want to discuss that stuff, fair enough, but there's a place for it, and I don't feel an anime website is the correct place anymore than a bloody nursery school would be. I'm relatively sure there would even be websites out there dedicated to this sort of stuff, and as such I don't feel Crunchyroll should be a place to preach your beliefs; atheist, agnostic, Christian, or otherwise. I do a test every time one of them is posted, and I've found practically every time by the time I reach the bottom of the second page there is someone arguing with somebody else. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something, but those sorts of threads seem like the place masochists just looking for trouble go. It's rarely ever civil, and on the off-chance a legitimate debate is occurring, the two people involved are so firmly attached to their beliefs neither of them will walk away properly taking anything from what they both debated about.

No thanks. There's far too many ignorant morons on here. Their opinions lack foundation and is mostly fuelled by preposterous and narrow-minded beliefs.

Banning a topic, or allowing less topics, isn't necessarily the answer. I went on it and just got more irritated, and wasn't interested by any further discussion. It was a lot less discussion and more vitriol.
