The door to the run-down bar opened and a young man stepped in looking first left and right and then headed straight for the bar while he fixed his grip on the old linen bag hung over his right shoulder. Without even sitting down he motioned to the bar man, a nearly bald middle-aged guy with a beer belly. Obviously annoyed he stomped over and only grunted in answer. The fellow put his bag to the ground and asked, "Do you have a room for the night upstairs and maybe some decent meal?"

Looking him over the bar man put on a sarcastic smile leaning his beefy arms on the counter. "Why would ya needa room here? ´Cause ya don´t look like one of me usual customerz?"
"If I could afford it I wouldn´t ask, right?", the boy retorted while clenching his fingers into a fist. Clearly he just wanted to get this over with as soon as possible. "So do you have a room or not?"

Tsking the old man began to answer but his gaze caught the metallic glint of the short sword the boy wore strapped to his belt. The sheath didn´t look unusual but the handle had an intricate pattern carved onto it and suddenly the light in the bar man´s eyes changed. "Sure wouldn´t wanna loose a nice customer, would I?", he said gleefully and fished a key with a wooden number plate out of his porch and exchanged it for the young man´s money and the direction to the room uptstairs. Afterward without saying anything the fellow turned around and headed for the stairs.

Inside the room Brastias locked the door, threw his bag into a corner and slumbed down onto the bed. He didn´t care for its smell or the interior - which consisted only of the bed, a small table, a chair and some torn curtains in front of the window. "Three months", he mumbled exhausted with an arm laying over his eyes. "Three months and I still can´t forget it."

A cloaked figure moved quietly through the shadows of the alleyways. He slowed as he heard voices and peered around the corner. A group of men were waiting, talking and smoking.
Yup they were there. This had been one helluva a recovery and he intended to ask for twice the amount they had offered.
Ciel pulled the hood over his head then turned the corner.

The man continued talking till they spotted him and shoved each other.

"You got what we asked for?" One of the man said as he walked forward.

"Yeah," Ciel replied and reached in his cloak and drew out a package. "It's interesting that you forgot to mention just how dangerous this mission was. If I had known, I wouldn't have agreed so easily. Didn't I say to tell me all the risks?"

"Ah well, alls well that ends well, right kiddo? " The man reached for it but Ciel didn't hand it over. The man guffawed, "Of course, of course, the money. Sam, give the guy what he wants." The men moved forward, surrounding him. Ciel's eyes narrowed. He knew these guys would be trouble. He sighed. Bad for them.

Another man moved forward, reached in his jacket and drew out a thick knife.

Ciel reacted but before he could warp, holy water hit him hard from the back. He cried out in pain while the man in front of him lunged and grabbed the package and took off running, the others proceeded to kick and beat Ciel before following him.

Ciel grimaced as he struggled to his hands and knees, feeling very weakened and dizzy. Fuckers, he should have taken better insurance.

Ok, so he hadn't thought they'd be smart enough to figure out holy items being his weakness but still... Ugh he felt like shit.

He staggered to his feet with a groan. All that work for nothing...

Sulking, he made his way to an inn he frequently visited. He entered and made his way to the bar at the front. The bar keeper looked at him but didn't say anything.

"I want a drink, Al. Put it on my tab." Ciel muttered, rubbing his head.

"What tab?" The bar keeper replied sourly.

"Fuck, " Ciel cursed and lay his head on the counter table wearily, his fatigued body giving way to sleep.

Beatrice squinted at the faded parchment paper she held in her hands and looked up again at the wooden sign posts with names of places she couldn't read. Not that they were hard names to pronounce, but because she actually couldn't read. She held the map next to the sign posts and tried to match the lettering on the paper to the lettering on the signs. "Migard would be this way, I think," she mumbled to herself and folded up the map. It had been a week and a half since she left her meadow, hitching a ride with the last caravan that happened to pass by. They would've dropped her off directly to the city, if she hadn't gotten overexcited and flew ahead.
Nothing I can do about it now, she supposed and followed the path. But I must be close if I'm able to smell the ocean. Beatrice kept her optimism and her positive attitude was rewarded when she spotted high stone towers peaking over the hills.
An hour later, Beatrice arrived at the edge of Migard out of breath but full of excitement. Remembering the caravan's advice, Beatrice headed directly to a tavern for general information. She had to restrain herself from looking at all the stalls and shops, reminding herself that there will be plenty of time for exploring later.
Swinging the door cheerily open, Beatrice made her way to the owner of the establishment. "Excuse me, are you Al? The Periculum guild sent me here. They said that plenty of exceptional adventurers and travelers hung out here, and well, I may not look like it yet, but I'm an adventurer myself!" she chatted up a storm, perkiness only faltering as she thought about the means of becoming an adventurer. "Of course, that all depends on whether I could find someone experienced to teach me a few things about adventuring..." she muttered to herself.
"Nothing but a washout here," Al replied as he dried beer glasses and gestured with his chin to a person resting his head on the table.
"That isn't a very nice thing to say," Beatrice said with a huff.
"Look, are you going to buy something or not?" he said with impatience. Beatrice glowered but nonetheless paid for two beers and brought it over to the table where the "washout" rested. He looked asleep, and Beatrice coughed politely.

Brastias dreamed.
Dreamed of his childhood, his friends, his village.... of the beatings from his father. The relentless shouting and cursing. It had been years since the last time he had this nightmares, but somehow it wasn't all too surprising to him to finally have one of them again.
Brastias could clearly hear him shouting as if he were standing right beside him: You useless bastard.... lying brat..... say it again and I will kill you!... kill you!.... kill... crack... crack!

Because the sound didn't fit in it slowly pulled him out of the sleep exhausted slumber he had fallen into. A bit groggy Brastias sat up and looked around the dark room in search of the room. After a few seconds of disorientation it became clear that it came from the other side of the room behind the door.
Standing he didn't understand what was going on and made his way to the door when suddenly it broke in and three guys, one a heavy muscled giant and the other two only a little less muscled. Took by surprise Brastias turned and headed for his short sword and prepared to defend himself.

She coughed louder and Ciel's eyes slowly opened. "Huh? What?" He asked, raising his head, blinking groggily.
He looked around and noticed the cute looking girl by his head with two drinks in her hand and he raised an eyebrow, "Well, hello there." He said with a charming smile, though he still looked sleepy. "How can I help such a pretty lady, such as yourself?" he noticed, eyeing the extra drink thirstily.

"She's looking for an adventurer to show her the ropes." the bartender said dryly as he walked past carrying a few bottles.

"Ah! An adventurer, why -" suddenly there were loud voices came from upstairs followed by crashes.

The innkeeper cursed loudly before hurrying upstairs. Ciel watched him run up the stairs, assuming it was a brawl taking place before hopping out of the chair. "Stay here," he told the girl, mostly because she didn't look like the type who fought and he didn't want her to get hurt unnecessarily. Brawls could get nasty.

He followed the man up the steps. In the room, there was one man backed into a corner against three burly men. One looked like a half giant. Clearly they were out to rob the poor fellow.

"Stop this ya couths." The innkeeper yelled at the three men in the room. " I won't have this in my-" He didn't complete his sentence as one of the men swung his club which hit the innkeeper's face. There was a sickening sound of the nose cracking as it broke, along with a few teeth.

Cel cringed, but the innkeeper was already out cold.

"Want some of it, or will you scram." The man looked at Ciel menacingly, hitting his club in his hand lightly.

"Geez, " Ciel said, rubbing the back of his head. "You are three against one, man. That doesn't sit well with me."

"Heh, good. Fluffy was hungry for more blood anyway." The man laughed loudly before raising his club and racing at Ciel.

"Fluffy?" Ciel said incredulously before flipping back to miss swing of the club. "You really named your club fluffy?"

The other men had Brastias cornered.

Ciel noticed that and vanished, a trail of black smoke lingering in his wake. He appeared in front of Brastias before grabbing him and vanishing again. They appeared in the middle of the three men , so Brastias and Ciel both had more room to move while facing the men.

"I could help you escape," Ciel said to Brastias's whose back was against his. "But I don't think these guys intend to stop after robbing you. Do you know how to use that sword?" He asked Brastias.

Beatrice pushed one of the glasses towards Ciel, intending to give it to him, but he ran upstairs before she could say a word. "Right, then," she said slowly, albeit confused and startled. She sat still for a moment, before a fire inside her ignited and prompted confidence. "Now listen here, adventurer!" Beatrice stomped up the stairs, blissfully unaware of the violence occuring. "You don't get to give me orders-" As she reached the final step, she saw the inn keeper fall to the floor with a loud thump and she staggered back, almost falling down the flight of stairs. She took in the scene before her; three hostile looking men against the man Beatrice was speaking with along with another. "Nevermind, staying put was actually a smart idea," and with that, she ran back downstairs.

Siri walked into the bar. The young lady looked out of place from the other patrons, wearing bright clean clothes and some armor with flower designs on it. The only thing out of place on the slender female was the huge brown fur wrapped item she carried on her back.

Siri stopped at the bar counter and tried to find the bartender but noticed no one "Usually someone is here at a place like this...." She heard some commotion coming from up the stairs and saw Beatrice come down the steps and she sighed.

"Always something to stop my travels" Siri simply grabbed a bottle from underneath the bar counter, placed some money in its place and walked to a table to sit. She placed the item on her back standing up and when she let go it sunk into the wooded floor breaking it. Siri looked down at it and simply shook her head as she sat down and waited to see what would happen as she just listened to the commotion.

Keasha had traveled all day till she came to Midgard. The city was Bustling with activity. Thea only thing about human cities is they smell so bad. Keasha thought to her self. But they make up for it by having the best booze. She stepped into the run down bar letting her eys adjust to the low light. She lowered the hood of her cloak and looked around. She walks up to the counter and sees a girl frowning and shaking her head. "Hey Barkeep! Whatcha got here that's good to drink!",Keasha yelled slapping a coin on the counter.

"hi I'm Keasha," she says to the girl next to her. "Are the floor boards normally that weak around here?"

What. The. Hell

That was the only thing Brastias could think about in the first few seconds when three wanna-be robbers appeared in the door while he was still half asleep and afterwards some other strange-looking guy teleported him –did that really happen? – to the middle of the small room.
It was the first time he was out of his home town and stayed in a big city in a rundown inn. So why was it that he already had three thugs after his not so full money bag and a stranger trying to save his ass?

Doesn´t matter now, does it? Either way I have only one choice. “I know swordsmanship.” He answered the stranger at his back quietly, “But rather than sword fighting, how are you with hand-to-hand combat? This room is a little too small for wielding these long swords of yours. And with the club of this big fellow… I hope you get what I mean.”

“No swords it is then.” The other guy simple said. Just at that moment the three thugs decided to wait no longer and charged Brastias and the other guy. The big guy got Brastias friend while he himself got the two underlings who each pulled a dagger out of their pants.
Playing unfair, huh, he thought as he settled in a fighting position with his arms raised and the left side of his body facing them.

Good thing he hadn´t undressed before he fell asleep, that meant that his forearm-protections were still on. As the first guy attacked Brastias blocked with his left forearm and got the guy with a spinning kick right in the face and slumping down. One down, one to go.
But the other one now hesitated with his strike. This one seemed to have a little more brain than the other. They watched each other while behind them another fight continued, still Brastias didn´t turn to give the robber a chance to charge him.

After a minute his opponent raised his arm as if to strike and Brastias let his gaze drift to the dagger. A mistake he paid for. A foot forcefully connected with his side and nearly knocked him over. He could stop himself and dodged the next attack aimed with the dagger at his throat.
Dodging more of the strikes, finally getting himself together and throwing out his hand to push the weapon out of the thug he slid behind the guy and threw an around his throat cutting of the guys windpipe.
Naturally he struggled and clutched at Brastias arm but he didn´t let loose until he felt no more struggles form the second underling and sagging in his grip.

Dropping underling number two he turned to the white haired stranger and his eyes widened with surprise at the sight.

Siri looked up at Keasha and then at her sword "Usually I find places with stone floors but being as this place is built on rough terrain....they use weak wood for they're floors" Siri placed the bottle she took and offered Keasha some "My name is Siri."

Siri looked in the direction of the commotion again just waiting for someone to fall down the steps. She turned to look at Keasha "So what brings you to this.....colorful town? Trying to find a ship or just passing through?" Siri moved her sword so it was next to her. She reached over the bar counter to grab some cups and placed them on the table.

The giant of a man swung his club wildly trying to land a solid hit on Ciel who was moving nimbly around him. Ciel's plan was to tire him out and it seemed to be working. The swings were becoming clumsier. At one point the man roared and brought his club right on top of Ciel's head but the tiefling warped and the club hit the floor, breaking the wood with a loud crack.
Ciel appeared in midair air and swung, landing kicks on the man's head. The man roared and raised his arm but the next instant, Ciel's legs wrapped around the man's arm and twisted, there was a sickening crack as the man's arm broke. He howled dropping the club and falling on his knees.
Ciel landed on the floor and leaning down, picked up the club.
"It's heavy." He said, testing it as he swung it around.
His opponent was breathing hard and trying to get to his feet again.
Ciel raised the club then swung, hitting the guy on the head. He yelled out in pain before teetering on his knees and falling face first to the floor, out cold.
"Heh " Ciel dropped the club next to him and turned to the other guy. He noted that he had taken out both of the men who had been after him.
"Seems they were targeting you." Ciel noted. "Got enemies after you?"

Looking at the biggest of the three knocked out men Brastias shook his head and picked up his discarded bag from the corner. "The only one who would have a reason to go after me is dead. By the way what's your name, my unknown hero.", he said, but studied the other man suspiciously, not letting down his guard. His appearance seemed a bit too coincidental.

"Ciel, you?"

"Brastias. Let's get these three wrapped up and get away from here. I don't want to pay for the damage when the innkeeper wakes up", he motioned to the still unconcious man outside the room and started pulling his two opponents together and got some rope out of the bag at his feet.

When the stranger, Ciel, raised an eyebrow at the rope Brastias just shrugged. "Just being prepared. And you see we need it..."

Seeing that he couldn't answer anything to that Ciel helped wrapping up the thugs and settling the unconcious innkeeper into the room. When both of them finished up they left the room and closed the door -or what was left of it- and made their way down to the bar as inconspiciously as possible.

Ciel and Brastias walked down the steps.

It seemed their brawl had caused a lot of commotion. The bar downstairs seemed to be lively. His eyes traveled to the broken floorboards and the girls sitting at the table near it. He wondered what happened then turned, searching.

He spotted the girl who had brought a drink to him earlier and walked over to her. "Hello, sorry about that." He said then pointed his thumb over to where Brastias was. "That guy got in trouble and I lent him a hand."

He waved Brastias over. "I don't think the inn keeper will wake any time soon." He said with a grin. "Might as well have a drink before you head out."

Laughing Keasha says, "I'm not one to turn down drink in good company. Besides any bar without a brawl or two is no fun at all. I have been on the road for some time. Leaving my troubles behind me. Other than having a good time at the provincial bar or three my travels have a purpose. I seek and exterminate the unholy and demonic where ever I find it. Have you heard of a any such trouble here abouts?"
