The earth is 4.54 billion years old. Anyone who thinks it's roughly 5-10,000 years old needs to come out of the rock they live under.

the length some people go to to make their religious tales seem consistent and real... I've even heard people saying 1 bible day = 2 billion years or something so that it becomes consistent with recent science.

we know the Earth isn't thousands of years old, because evolution is a process that takes millions of years, so at least it's millions of years old if you don't believe in carbon dating, but then... the same people who think it is 6000 years old are the same ones who deny evolution...

it's a vicious cycle you can't ever break...

You nailed it.

The original Hebrew of the 7 days is NOT 7 days, it is 7 periods of time. as such Genesis does line up with evolution.
The problem is that people who think that King James was the end all authority to biblical matters can't see past a white Euro-centric biblical view!

Than we had a lotta' babies these last less than 10K years,

Think about another 1K and we'd die from overpopulation.

In my 8th grade science class, we were taught the world is 4.54 billion years old based on the age of rocks. HOWEVER, she also made an interesting point: how do we know that it's not older and the rocks have cycled through the cycle of plate tectonics, being pushed underneath, melting, and reforming?

It was just a little musing to her, but it's a valid point..

We very well could die of over-population in the next 1K years, but that is because growth is exponential, not linear
But that doesn't disprove the earth is WAY older than 10-15K years!

Thats the problem with people who believe in the literal stories in the bible.

I am not religious, however I have no issues with those who are.

However; People who believe in scribbles in a book written by hermits in caves are quite unintelligent (meaning people who actual believe we all started from a man and a woman who was made with his rib, or that a talking snake made someone eat a naughty apple; not people who are simply religious and believe in a god.)

You can believe in it sure.. but when science, which is factual answers that have been found through tedious logical processes prove that your theories taught to you by the bible are incorrect, you absolutely cannot sit there, in pure ignorance and say that the earth is less than 10,000 years old.
