I don't really get offended at all when people use that word. Of course if someone uses it with a bad vibe, then maybe.

When my black friends call me that, I somehow feel very honored and I call them the same.

Just try not to use it in front of someone you don't know or just met.

Interesting to see that perspective actually. You never get any weird looks when you say nigga back to any of your friends? Now how do you feel when someone says you can't say that word?

One of my college professors and one of my mentors is in his late 80's,from Mississippi and through the unfair treatment, walking 10 miles to school,discrimination,etc... He became an Architect and a Professor. You getting offended that you can't "say the word back" is probably the dumbest thing i've ever heard. BTW, your'e also highly exposing the reason behind your poll the other day, not that I didn't already know.

It's really only offensive if people try to make it be.

No, don't say that. That;s an offensive word. That word means you don't care about feelings, etc..... Not an opinion, it's what I realized.

The words you speak are wise enough to compliment you.

Beg pardon? First off, you really don't know a single thing about me so I find it amazing how you can come to these conclusions based on just your imagination. Secondly I really have no qualm with you so I'd appreciate it if you scale back the accusations.

Learn the difference between "nigga" and "n____er" for real.

It depends on who you ask in the African American community, as some will say neither is acceptable and don't agree with the use of the ---ga word as it is a form of a word used to dehumanize people.

As such from the outside, I find neither acceptable at all, but won't criticize anyone within the community using either word as it isn't my place to tell those who have been oppressed by that word how they should feel.

Bullshit, dude. I'm tired of that pity crap that some African Americans use. Sorry but it annoys me when some of them pull that crap.

Like i said, it isn't my place to criticize either side of this. I can only listen and try not to be ignorant and offend anyone.
And I for one will NOT use either word.

While I don't use it, I don't mind if another person uses it so long as they don't criticise someone who isn't black for using it.

Some would argue it doesn't work that way.

Apparently since only white people can be racist nowadays and blacks are utterly innocent, it is best not to use the word. These eggshell days, I tell you.

i don't think any of this should be discussed. it's like talking politics someone will always either be offended or think they know best. the sad truth is using this word is dehumanizing and ignorant (see that's my opinion) even if my black friends use this word i don't fall to their level and start talking black or use the word back that's dumb. have you ever thought of this in reverse? (i'm white) so if one of my black friends who talks different than i or my fellows started mimicking the way we talk, wouldn't it be strange and kind of insulting? so even using words like those in front of black people must make them feel weird or insulted? (i.e. your having a chat with your friends and your speaking like a normal white person (do you not know?) and then you start hanging out with another group of friends and you start talking like a black person or ghetto or whatever. how does this person/group perceive you? of course they would know that you talk like a normal person elsewhere and thinking they don't is insulting their intelligence.) (Or how groups of white guys talk on GTA online... its ignorant) like i said these words shouldn't be used.

Fair enough, I'd have just appreciated some further explanation is all. Granted the example I used wouldn't happen in many cases, but it's not infeasible that someone could be a bit of a double-standards dick in that way.

The word was bred from hatred, why use it?
