Three months ago I got into anime. I am 26 years old. I was also worried about what others might think of me being interested in these animations at this age. I have came to this conclusion. I do not give a damn what others think about this. I truly have been finding enjoyment in these shows and I have learned that these shows are not just for teenagers or little kids. These shows can carry as much depth, and probably more depth than any non-anime shows I have seen. If you enjoy anime, I hope that you and anyone else with this worry will continue enjoying it no matter how old you are. I do not care what the social standard is. There is no reason to give up on anime or any other hobbies based on how old you are if it continues to bring you enjoyment. I plan on continuing this infatuation until I no longer receive any enjoyment, and I can only hope that that is never the case. I hope to be enjoying these shows on my death bed whether others like it or not.

I'm going to watch anime until I'm dead,I think you are conflating 2 separate issues here. I don't think its anime that is stopping you from getting a job(or married). If its a distraction, you may want to drop it like any other distraction when you need to be focused. Not because its anime, but so you have more time to look for work.

I m 35 years old, by june i m gonna be 36, meaning, at what age you need to stop watching anime?
I m not married, or even work(for now) so the only source i see for entertainment, well
this. but just hobby, still and adult watching it. I can believe a 15 to 25 can.
But 35 to 40? is a little ridiculous, dont you think?
so give ya point of view on this subject?
A re my generation to old for this, or let 90's kid watchet instead?

If your still enjoying the anime you watch then I don't see why it would be considered any more ridiculous than watching any other kind of TV.

Personally there are some anime shows I don't enjoy at all and some I don't. It doesn't really make sense to put it all in one bucket as something appropriate for over 35s or not some of what I enjoy is clearly intended more for viewers much younger than I am, others even if they have a primarily younger audience have themes and content that clearly have a wider appeal.

As another poster mentioned, there was another thread in the topic. It hasn't been active in more than a year so I've closed it, but if you are interested in what others have said in the past you can find it in here: /forumtopic-796179/what-age-do-you-think-its-too-old-to-watch-anime

You don't hear people say "I'm too old for The Avengers" or "I'm too old for Spiderman". Why is most anime different from that kind of superhero stuff? I would say that there is a bunch of anime a lot more mature than Comic Book movies.

I had absolutely no idea what this thread was about when I read the title..

I don't believe there's any age that should dictate when you are to stop watching anime. Collecting figurines, love pillows, posters, scrolls and turning your room into a shrine however is another matter.

If anime supposedly has an age limit, then it stands to reason that all other animations do, as well. Including CGI. Well, it's time to tell a bunch of middle-aged and elderly people that they can't watch Felix the Cat, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Finding Nemo, Avatar, and whatnot. I need to pick up some body armor, first.

Utter foolishness, and I'm not just referring to the notion of armor possibly saving me from a brutal mauling.

Look, if your an adult no one has any say over when and when you cannot watch anime. If you like it, fine. If you stop liking it, fine. But asking people is not the right choose. YOU ARE 35 GOING 36! Make your own god damn decisions. In the end, all our days are numbered. Spend them anyway you chose and try to get the most enjoyment out of your time living. If that means watching all the anime in the universe, fantastic. If that means never watching an anime again, great. But I'll tell you its just not the right move to be asking other people, especially when most of them are younger than you, if your too old to enjoy yourself. as long as its legal, go out and do it.

I've been a cartoon fan as far back as I can remember and a Japanese anime fan since the 60's.I saw my first Manga in the service when I was dumpster diving in the 70's.I still watch and own a substantial amount, about 12 Tera's of Anime.Anime is not my only interest , I'm not a pediphile, nor has Anime replaced social interaction or hindered my working career.(Been married a couple of a times ,have 7 children,3 grandchildren, worked for the same company just under a quarter century:) Okay ,that's some of the usual paradigms sorted.I'm sure at this stage in my life anime will probably represent a lifelong pursuit. My epicurean advice is drop the guilt. If it feels good, do it.

The Boondocks and South Park are adult cartoons you are never to old to enjoy. Same applies for anime.

Who cares what age you are. If you like something, then continue to enjoy it. I don't know why society tries to make people like us feel bad about the things we like. People say the same nonsense about comic books as well. If you are really into something and it isn't doing you, or anyone else, any harm then why stop. I say enjoy anime for as long as you want.

What's wrong with watching it at any age? It's a form of entertainment like a film or a videogame, you're never too old for that stuff. If you want to drop it fair enough, but that should only be because you're not interested in it anymore, not to conform to some bullshit arbitrary standards laid out by judgemental pricks.
