My grandmother is 70 and watches anime. I introduced her to it when the psycho-pass dub came out a while back. She loved it (even said she though Shinya was sexy lol). Shes watched most of Miyazaki's movies and a few other sci-fi shows.

Aslong as you enjoy watching anime, dont stop watching it. Your taste in shows might change but there are alot of shows geared towards older crowds.

Why should age be a deciding factor in what you are allowed to have as a hobby?

when it no longer excite you, then it's the time to move on.

remember when bubbles, lego's and crayola used to be fun? we've all moved on... it's a natural progression of life (although i still get excited when i see jumping castles).

there's no point in forcing yourself to do something to remain "young". you're old, face the reality and get over it.

I'll be too old for it when i grow tired of it, and that's very unlikely to happen anytime soon. I've played games since i were little, I've been into anime and manga for at least eight years now. It's something I'm very passionate about, so i don't see any reason why i would stop watching it. I've met some great people through it, and I'm sure I'll meet many more.

I rather die.

I like what I like and I will never stop watching anime or any anime series or genre.

I'm 21 year old man and I watch Shugo Chara! At one point I have my Facebook wallpaper cover in Ikuto and Amu.

I also watch anime in my TV even when my family is in the room.

I m 35 years old, by june i m gonna be 36, meaning, at what age you need to stop watching anime?
I m not married, or even work(for now) so the only source i see for entertainment, well
this. but just hobby, still and adult watching it. I can believe a 15 to 25 can.
But 35 to 40? is a little ridiculous, dont you think?
so give ya point of view on this subject?
A re my generation to old for this, or let 90's kid watchet instead?

I'm 31. I'll be 32 in June. I'm married and have 4 children. I still watch anime and plan to continue to do so. Why? If a medium is enjoyable (movies, video games, books, comic books, manga, anime, etc) and it doesn't negatively impact your life, why not continue watching it? As others have said - what you find interesting may change as you age, but why block out a medium merely because of your age? It seems arbitrary.

You should stop watching anime when you stop enjoying watching anime.

I'm 35 as well, won't be 36 until August however. Anyway, I like the stories anime can tell. You can do crazy animation that still fits the plot, fantastic stories that would be difficult (if not impossible) in live action, stuff like that. Live action and mixed media will continue to improve, but I don't see a reason to stop liking anime just because I hit a certain age. So long as it's still enjoyable, I'll keep watching.

I've been doing anime and cons for 27 years, I seriously doubt you'll pry it from my cold, dead hands. If someone mocks you, its because their life is so empty the only way they can get enjoyment is to mock the passion of others. Pity them.

I know people in their 60s who have enjoyed anime such as Ghost in the Shell, Wolf Cildren as well as quite a few Studio Ghibli films. You have one life enjoy it while it lasts. Or to put in another way:

Death although even then it's not too old you just technically can't watch anymore. Nor can you do anything else for that matter.

Where's the Ancient One? He's like in his 80's I believe....

There's really no age limit, though a lot of people kinda die off from the fandom around their early 20's....

Very true. And that's kinda why most people stop watching.

It gets old and it no longer interests... Mainly because the stories become recycled and the target audience gets younger and younger...

I contemplate leaving from time to time, but then there's that one or two titles that always sucks me back in because it's just that good and different....

I do agree with the concept of stopping certain things as you get older, however anime is not one of those things. It's just another form of entertainment, and as long as it serves its purpose of entertaining me, then I will continue to watch it.

Don't think you're ever too old, personally. Or even too old for a specific show.

Take the older anime fans for example - they're not weird by any stretch of the imagination. They're some of the coolest cats around. I actually respect them more than the younger fans. You know that it isn't some passing phase with them, and thus, they feel like stable pillars of the community. And they tend to know what they're talking about far more often than not.

As for the more middle-aged fans ~ same thing. I think they're often very respectable. Well, obviously, there are exceptions to anything and I don't want to generalize ~ but you get the idea.
