This is the news media.....

A pathetic, self-serving piece of sh*t that tries to make everyone kill each other and adding fuel to the fire when it starts to die down? Sounds about right.

i think it is a bit of both, but there is a big issue here and it definitely needs to be discussed. the media always cover the hot topic, even though I don't like the coverage, it is better than nothing. we need to have this discussion and change some laws. its outrageous.

I just learned that people in United States territories (puerto rico, guam, american samoa, etc.) do not have the right to vote for the country president, even though they are Americans. ppl in american samoa are not even considered citizens, just "nationals." and the defense for this is a ruling that was in 1901 by a racist judge (same asshole that plessy v. ferguson, separate but equal). they call them "alien races" even though they are american. its crazy.

They always seem to know which hot button to push for the masses to be distracted from important issues.

The comparison to Envy is appropriate. The news media thrives on drama; it's their major source of revenue, and they've been heavy sources/tools of propaganda for eons. It comes with the territory, it seems.

Its what attracts the empty-headed masses like moths the most. Its rather depressing.

While I do acknowledge that the media has a habit of sensationalizing things, here I think that they're just finally beginning to uncover something that was already present.

It's quite interesting because i've had certain friends who have been trying to convince me of the severity of this issue for years. I didn't necessarily shrug it off, but I took it with a grain of salt. Now what they were telling me seems a bit more believable.

No one in my family has ever experienced police brutality ~ but we have encountered some situations that make me... well... somewhat suspicious of their motivations and actions.

But to sum it up plainly ~ I'm starting to think that this has always been an issue, but the media is hyping it up now because they think they can get viewers out of it. That's my honest opinion at the moment.

Yes, the media is blowing it way out of proportion, but it is still an issue. Many of these innocent killings could have been avoided if police were given non-lethal weaponry (rubber and plastic bullets, Bean bag guns) to replace their normal to carry weapon, or at least carry both.

Yes, I believe the media is pushing it, the same way I believe Fox news pushes culture wars. It's what gets people talking and tuning back in.

Yes, they are. And people are eating it up like crazy bloated outrage monsters who are only able to survive by consuming and reposting as many incendiary headlines as they can every day.

Oh yeah, most definitely. They don't report officers doing there jobs properly, but put a lot of attention on the ones who don't and granted, that is okay, but there obviously is an agenda.
