50 cents. They still have those fifty cent ring machines, right? Put in two quarters, turn the dial, out pops a ring in one of those pods.

You're getting ripped off. I know machines like that that are only a quarter...

Some of those machines are even 75 cents or even $1 now.

As for what I would spend.... I don't know. Not a lot. $1000 at most seems pretty reasonable. If she doesn't like it then it would be time to reconsider whether she is right for me. I'm not into the whole idea of expensive rings and big weddings and such when there are so many better things the money can go to.

I'm shocked that you would spend more on ten months of your anime subscription than on the symbol that ties the person you love and yourself together. $50 will buy you a nice plastic ring.

A fifty dollar plastic ring? The hell do you live? On amazon, you can find some nice, sturdy, metal rings for under $50. Plus, the person commenting is a woman who is saying she would be fine receiving a ring like that from the person she loves.

If I had to buy a ring, I'd at most spend 5% of my life savings assuming I'd saved at all at the time.

That said, I won't buy a ring. Rings are so yesterday.

Maybe just a little over $1000, I'm not materialistic at all, so really.. price does not matter.

$0.00

I am against the whole concept of the diamond engagement ring, because it was spawned by a DuBeers advertising campaign. I don't think companies should be allowed to influence our culture to such a degree, so I refuse to take part in that particular tradition.

Isn't there a saying of ' three months of pay for a ring?' or something around those lines?

Actually diamond engagement rings were a thing way before that campaign. The only thing the campaign did is make diamond engagement rings more of a standard as opposed to something more rare that rich people did.

For the most part, just something more than about $75. That seems to be about the minimum price of nicer rings; however, it's more common for cheap(er) rings to be of pretty poor quality, or even ripoffs. Ring accidents/breakage sucks, like ill-fitted gemstones falling off and getting lost. It's like the risks that come with buying knives; "that less than $20 petite chef knife you found at Walmart may be cheap and affordable, but don't expect it to compare well against a CUTCO with a $123 price tag."

EDIT:

Honestly, I have a ring that was passed down from my mother, which I'd greatly prefer to have repaired and refitted to fit me as my engagement or even wedding ring, as opposed to something else.

so, 6 females respond.

66% of women here would be happy happy with a ring 100 or less.
16% of women want a 1000 or more ring.
and the other 16% are unpleasable, (lol)

very intresting figure.

I bet you won't even look.

You're like, "down the hatch."

You'll swallow the whole box.
