When I introduce people to anime they sometimes look at the giant list of episodes are are intimidated. There are some go-to movies I recommend but I sometimes wish there were more. What do you think? Should there be more stand alone movies or even movie series?

Recorn there should. Not too fussed about extremely short episodes but if the episodes are long and the number of episodes, many... I can't get into it.

When i introduce people to anime it's usually a 12 episode tightly knit series. A movie is great but complexities are rarely fleshed out. So the 12 episode format is my go to.

A resounding yes. Anime (at least in the US) used to be dominated with movies over series, and they used to have better budgets, but also more serious subject matter.

I miss that.

Yesh!

not because of more serious subject matter perse, I mean movies like ghost in the shell are fun but me loves the k-on and haruhi movies (for example) just as much, but it would be nice to be able sometimes to sit down and watch some anime even if you don´t want to start entire new series!

I can really recommend rakuen tsuiho / expelled from paradise. It's a cool and beautifull mecha sci-fi anime (with a hot chick as well!) that came out recently and is way kewl :3

Short answer ,Yes.

While I don't hate the idea I preferred if there more series. Because there so much you can do in a series that you can't or don't have the time for in a movie.

I definitely think there should be more anime movies! I'd love horror anime films~ (the anime version of the grudge would take all my money if it existed!!). Also, you know they have real people comedy, action etc. I think there should be more anime films like those, too~
