Hey there everyone! I've been in the Anime/Manga scene for around 10 years now (holy cow has it really been that long? I'm getting old.) I was a huuuuge manga fan, I've read so many series I can't even remember them all!

Anime was a bit later for me, but I've grown to love it as well. I've watched quite a bit, but I'm looking for suggestions. I had to stop watching, due to difficulties in school and needing to get a job. Now though I've been commanded by my therapist to stop working so hard and have a bit more fun...thus, ANIME AHOY!!!

Things I've watched and loved: FMA, Magi, Eureka 7, Rurouni Kenshin, Azumanga Diaoh, AoT, SAO (the first half), Hunter x Hunter, Psycho Pass, Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night (Remake), etc.
It's a longer list than that, these are just the first I could think of. Probably more that I can't remember due to time, that I'll probably feel so embarrassed leaving off one of my favorites.

I've also watched the biggies, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, all those guys. Eh, I just got bored after awhile. They all went on far too long for my liking.

Big on: Adventure, Fun, Friendship, some Romance, Suspense, Sci Fi, Fantasy, totally cool with darker themes, but also a fan of the occasional comedy.

What I'm not so big on: Series that have 500+ episodes, anything with overly-gratuitous fanservice (I can ignore this if there is a decent storyline, but...eugh, sorry I'm not into it), any thing with a Gainax-"wtf-you-call-that-an-ending!?"-ending, overly unrealistic romantic stories, comedy that hedges on the characters being super awkward and causing second hand embarrassment.

Woah, long post.
TL;DR
POST YA FAVS. GIMMIE A LIL DESCRIPTION WHY I SHOULD WATCH.

Thanks!

A couple suggestions if you haven't seen them already:

- Durarara | http://www.crunchyroll.com/durarara - Starts out slow. Becomes interesting after episode 7 or 8 I think. I have yet to check out the 2nd season which is currently being broadcast, but I thought the first season was great.

- Blue Exorcist | http://www.crunchyroll.com/blue-exorcist - A somewhat incomplete show, but worth watching for what it is.

- No Game No Life | http://www.crunchyroll.com/no-game-no-life - Interesting main characters, interesting animation. The premise has been done a few times, but this is a modern twist on it.

Another show with a similar theme as the one above is Problem Children are Coming from Another World, aren't they? (http://www.crunchyroll.com/problem-children-are-coming-from-another-world-arent-they). Both of those shows aren't overly serious, but they're not stuffed with slap-stick comedy either.

- Toradora! | http://www.crunchyroll.com/toradora - Just a great love story. Satisfying.

- Chaika –The Coffin Princess- | http://www.crunchyroll.com/chaika-the-coffin-princess- - The script isn't all the deep, but the world they live in is kind of interesting.

- Hellsing Ultimate | http://www.hulu.com/hellsing-ultimate (Hulu.com) - Absolute sheer mayhem. Totally fucked up, but has some awesome animation. Buckets of blood.

^Seconded on Problem Children. (Still say NGNL is essentially a carbon copy of it though.)

I suggest Baccano
Very interesting how they unfold the story. What seems like fragments here and there come together to show you how everything is working together. Shows you have a story about an event varies with every person that tells it. On top of that you have gangsters (it takes place in the US during prohibition), good solid jazz, and some awesome characters. What's not to love?

An amazing comedy is Monthly Girl's Nozaki-kun here on CR
Ridiculous but hilarious situations are in no shortage here. No real awkward moments either if you're worried about that. It was the best comedy I'd seen in quite a while.

Jojo's Bizzare Adventure.

Gintama.

Space Brothers.

Ping Pong the Animation........

All of them are "long" (cept ping pong), but worth it. Even reading the description for these is nothing like watching em.

xxJing: I do apologize if my tastes offend you :< I like much more than what's listed. In fact, isn't that Emi from the Devil is a Part-Timer? I watched that whole show in one sitting! Hehe, it always gave me a chuckle. If you've got things outside my likes, I'm always open to trying something new! What do you think are better choices? I've been out of the loop for awhile, I only really know what my friends recommend ;^; sometimes it may not be the best, but I thought they were interesting enough...

bathroom64: Well, a few long shows may be worth it! Always nice to have something to come back to time and time again! I'll definitely look into those, thank you!!

Angel Beats: Guy wakes up in the afterlife to find a small war happening. Makes friends, tries to figure out what in hell is going on, eventually finds love.

Bakemonogatari: Half-vampire helps a series of girls deal with their supernatural problems--mostly by getting them to confront their own (sometimes literal) demons. Very intelligent, very talky, awesome artwork, some horror, some romance. Technically a harem, but trust me, this does NOT have a typical harem feel.

Valkyria Chronicles: In faux-Europe, small country fends off attacks from the "no-really-not-Germany" Empire; focuses on a brilliant but oblivious commander and his female staff officer (who tries to keep him grounded), and their militia unit. Solid battle scenes, (mostly using WWII era tech), interesting unit dynamics, the slowly developing romance works pretty well.

Gargantia of the Verdurous Planet: Mech pilot who knows nothing but war crash lands on peaceful, flooded planet; learns ways of locals, tries to fit in, eventually his war follows him. Mech stuff just okay, but solid sci fi plot, pretty well executed, and a bit of romance--kind of Eureka Seven lite.

Haikyu!!

I see that you like fun and friendship. This show is really good. It is also kind of funny. If you haven't seen any sports anime, I recommend this one. It was the first sports anime that I watched and I loved it.

Captain Earth, Non Non Biyori, Dusk-Maiden of Amnesia, Another, Interlude, Say I Love You, Celestial Method, Stella Women's Academy, Yuki Yuna is a Hero and Chronicles of the Going Home Club seem to meet your likes and avoid your listed dislikes for the most part .
