I agree with our right and responsibility to protect ourselves and I know that in this world, we should never allow governments to possess all the weaponry, just take a hard realistic look at Cuba and ask why so many Cubans now live in Florida, which has been happening for 80 years now.
There are numerous examples of governments slaughtering their people around the world, and NO, they are not religious but atheists, power hungry and totalitarian states, North Korea, China, Russia, Argentina, etc... Just study current news and not just the MIddle East.

However, Please, please, take owning a firearm seriously. Place the firearm in a lock cabinet and keep it out of reach of children AND don't go showing it off!!! It's not a toy. Don't treat it like a toy! It is a deadly weapon. Period.

ISIS doesn't just exist across the seas. Terrorists cells exist in the USA, too. However, do not treat self-defense and weapons as toys! Know what you are doing and why.

I'm not even sure why this post was ever posted but I consider it childish to have even started this post because as an adult, I don't seek someone else's approval nor do I need it to do what is right. If you don't understand the purpose of owning a deadly weapon, talk to your local police officers and then sell your weapon to a pawnshop or see if your local police officer will accept it from you. PERIOD! Deadly weapons are not toys. Self-defense and guarding the people whom you love is NOT a GAME! And should NOT be attempted by children or young teens but instead by responsible adults who are NOT seeking approval form fellow anime'ers.

So please be safe, take seriously what you are doing and if you need advice, TALK TO Responsible ADULTS and not Anime Kids.

God bless and be safe.

Well the people talking about their experiences here have all been in their 20s if you look below their profile pics, not teens. And its still possible to enjoy shooting guns, nothing said here has given me the impression that they or I don't take safety seriously.

Apparently, I found out that if you're on Social Security, you're not allowed to have a weapon of any kind because you're "mentally unstable". So, just because life's been hard on me, jobs are scarce unless you're disposable, and I have a small amount of autism, I'm not allowed to have something to help preserve my own LIFE?!!

See, I can understand if it was because someone had a recent criminal history. Perfectly reasonable. But they're saying I can't get so much as a cheap pocket knife because of something that pretty much sounds like a stereotype?!! Someone please explain to me how that makes any sense whatsoever.

Oh yeah, forgot about that guy who got shot for wielding a sword. Silly me, having a moment of stupidity.

Despite what it said in the constitution, guns rights weren't made so you can oppose the government from what I can understand. Otherwise we'd have an uprising every single day, Look at the Whiskey Rebellion. We've grown past the point where guns were perceived to be necessary for freedom. Rather, guns are a freedom in itself, rather than a means to freedom,

In short, guns aren't necessary for freedom. Look at countries with the strictest gun laws. South Korea, Japan, etc. Ofc, those countries are far more homogeneous in belief than our own democracy, but still. It is as if you are suggesting an armed uprising in totalitarian countries, which isn't the greatest move in my opinion,

I bought a mecha. It was only 2 weeks later that I realized I bought it because I saw this sweet ass mecha in an anime before.

...I know. I just said, I just bought a mecha. In fact, I just came home. I took the mecha out to town. Gassed it up and went through the McDonald's drive thru with it.

I wouldn't say that. Many colonials were British during the Revolutionary War, or were only one or two generations away from it. Besides, the British were one of the colonies' top suppliers of firearms, including cannons. At that time period, both the British and colonials (just about every European nation or colony) were very fond of their firearms. Shortly before the Revolutionary War, though, two incidents helped instill our protectiveness over our firearms. They are called the Gunpowder Affair (1775) and Powder Alarm (1774). Tensions were already high between the royals and colonials, but propaganda swept the incidents out of proportion and owning firearms became virtually synonymous with colonial/American freedom and pride.

It was mainly in jest about the British public's general aversion to personal firearms.
