You can buy rifles before you can drink? This thread is proving to be something of an education in American laws I feel somewhat naive now.

Should one ever cosplay with a real gun? I'm just wondering.

Never.

Unless you want free food , lodging , and great sex! (Prison) .. that or get shot, one of those two.

Oh yeah, forgot about that guy who got shot for wielding a sword. Silly me, having a moment of stupidity.

I think it was a fake sword. Even if is real depending where you are is legal or not. I hear there convention that allow real melee weapons but they do something to it so you can't used while you are inside the building.

Well my PX4 is a .45 lol.. so yea.. its pretty damn loud. I always double up on hearing protection. Should hear the magnum users though...

Top: H&K MP5 A5 .22lr
Left: Beretta PX4 Storm .45
Right: Ruger SR 22

Warning: Images of real guns, if stuff like that bothers you do not open.

Very impressive. They look well kept too.

As for long guns I'm preferable to Soviet/RussFed models myself however.

The MP5 is a blast haha (pun intended)...

It shoots little tiny .22's so it has like 0 recoil, and they are 25 round mags... so I just unload like 50 bullets in 10-15 seconds.. its fun if I just feel like unloading.

For comparison, heres what a .45 \ 9mm \ and .22 look like:

Warning: Picture of real ammo, do not open if that bothers you.

Nothing graphic bothers me, haha.

I do have an old shotgun in the garage and a box of slugs, each of which is like a chap stick but wider. I wonder what kind of recoil that thing would have. It is this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_Model_1200

Haha! Now I have a mental image of a person politely sipping tea, then hearing a loud noise and spilling the drink while yelling "Blimey!"

I don't know what my next handgun is going to be. I know my next rifle will be something in .308, since I have .308 ammo, but nothing that shoots it. For handguns I have a XD45, RIA 1911 Tactical, XDS 45, M&P Shield 9mm, Beretta Neos 22lr.

Look for a 11mm (they are a little harder to find but balistically identical to a .45) They are easier for a smaller person (like me) to use.

One quick fact about guns in America, for anyone to understand. They became important when we felt our freedom slipping away. In the past we were forced to house soldiers they could do whatever theywanted to our property, homes and women. So the revolutionary war came about (Don't blame me, blame our history books ... even though they change with the politics of the season!)

In more recent times, 2005 a woman in Castlerock, Colorado had an order of protection against her husband, who came into her house despite the protective order... she called the police. The police told her they had no obligation to respond, and with no way to protect herself or her children, he kidnapped and murdered them. (Cheerful I know) The supreme court ruled on a lawsuit in this case that there is no individual right to police protection, they don't have to respond at all...

So guns in the home are becoming more and more common. I just wish it was a little more like when my father was a kid. Gun safety was offered in schools and you were expected to be mature, responsible and never misuse them.. if you're going to have one, learn to use it, if you don't want one/don't like them... then don't... It's a free country for a reason... you deserve the right to choose.

My friend is showing me this handgun that his gunshop, he goes to has. It's an FNX 45 Tac, with a Silencerco Osprey suppressor for $2k. It's tempting, but I don't really feel like spending $2k right now. I may try and get myself set up with a suppressor, and get a threaded barrel for the XD45.

My friend, is in the process of getting his suppressor, and right now, is in that six month background check part of it. It should be done, and he should be able to pick it up, sometime in June.

My first handgun(age 12) was a colt .22 ... for a very long time I tried talking my father our of his old service pistol, but with three older brothers they got first pick. A lot of people hate my dad for giving us firearms so young... I got my first shooting rifle at 8.. but by that age Annie Oakley was hunting for food to help her family.

I've been thinking about doing that with my 7 year old nephew, at least getting him introduced to shooting. I may buy a Ruger 10/22 takedown, to start him off, and put a scope on it. Probably be easier for him to get the feel for things, without having to use a bolt action, and using iron sights. I also have a Savage 17hmr bolt action, that is also pretty light shooting. So he can get a feel for both types.

Wasn't expecting much until I opened the pictures....My heart skipped a beat. I know the MP-5 is just a plinker but damn its still a sexy weapon. How often do you do a full breakdown and clean of your weapons? They are very well maintained.
