I only just found out that this existed already. I was like dumbfounded that they were doing a sequel to the manga well I dunno if it counts as a sequel as much as a spinoff I don't know what to call it. However how are fans of the original feeling? Personally I am just glad it exists. I love BOF down to my core and anything even with a new cast is great. I am hoping there is some kind of twist that will differentiate it from the original. I hope that we get to see more glimpses of the original cast and what they are up to. It seems strange the series is only set two years after the original. I wish it focused on the original casts kids or something like but it is just too soon to tell what it will be like. I have no read too much Yoko Kamio stuff aside from Cat Street I am pretty much unfamiliar with her work. I feel like the identical premise just has to be some kind of ruse. I seriously cannot wait for more though. Ahh I missed Tsukasa so much its nice to get little glimpses of his image here and there at least. I hope him and Tsukushi at least return in some capacity.

Start reading guys because it's being released on Comixology and other places simultaneously with the japanese release so get it while you can because its free for now.

I agree, this is very similar to the original and I hope that there will be more originality to separate the two. Maybe they can focus more on her wealthy past.

The first 4 chapters are being released in the English Weekly Shonen Jump as a cross promotion (in Japan it is being put in Jump+) and on their podcast they said that all the chapters will be free, with a digital graphic novel release "if you want to pay". No current plans for a print release but they will see how it goes.

Does anyone know how long this series is intended to be? It's not like some sort of mini series is it?

Something that is bothering me about this new series is how it kind of is starting to remind me of Ouran High School Host club a little bit. Of course I know BOF came first however this new series just is giving me that kind of vibe. This new male lead is much more of a buffoon like Tamaki than Tsukasa and he has the glasses best friend that is serious and takes care of him. It's still too soon for me to know if this is going to be any good but I wont abandon it because Boys Over Flowers is my all time favorite manga. I would like to see them explore the other members of the correct five because at this point most of them don't even have personalities yet. I think it is odd that the male lead seems more of the focus here this time around. I live for the moments when they show all the little glamour shots of Tsukasa that are enshrined on his wall.

I read the entire Boys Over Flowers manga, and it was and is one of the absolute worst mangas I have ever read. I actually wrote a review about how bad it was and why on MAL. I'm actually going to post my review here, under the spiler tag since it really delves deep into WHY this manga is such crap.

Cannot believe such Shoujo garbage is so popular, and this nonsense got a sequel. Save yourself the trouble and read something good folks.

like I know there is a lot of politically incorrect stuff in the series and I would say that I wish the author would have left a lot of the stuff that is offensive to women out of it all together however at the end of the day to me anyway it's fiction and it's something that was written by a woman. I think the depiction of men treating women like that is more a problem with Japanese society in general though. Rape in anime and manga is really not taken as seriously as it needs to be but I try to take in consideration the fact that it's a foreign property from a different era when I read it. Maybe that affected your opinion of the entire series early on and that kept you from liking it and thats understandable because I understand that is something too offensive for some people to look past. I don't think the series is generic or that it's just cliche and for what cliches there are this series created some of them. Maybe part of it is that the male lead was never intended to be the male lead. The author's original intentions with Tsukasa were for him to play the part of an antagonist but the character evolved into a love interest and male lead due to popular demand and what I can only guess is that she decided to stick with the traits and characterization she originally intended for him regardless of the role change. I can't honestly say that I would recommend this title to younger more impressionable girls but the series but there are worse more modern recent manga out there. At the end of the day to me this manga is about a teenage girl trying to overcome adversity with romance and drama thrown into the mix.

If you like it, that is fine of course - I simply feel that beyond its characterization and character problems, the storyline itself is so poorly written, painfully shallow, highly cliche and ridiculous.

I've been an anime and manga fan for years; in terms of manga, I've read hundreds upon hundreds from all categories and all eras. I've read manga much older than this (70's for example) that tell far better stories with far better characterization - yet sadly are mostly unknown.

This garbage is most undeserving of being the best selling Shoujo manga of all time in my opinion. It was truly a waste of my time, horrible series.

I am wondering if Viz has given up on the series already or what. Because like isn't there supposed to be a new chapter up already? I am not really surprised since it seems like nobody else in North America seems to be interested in this property anymore
