According to my friends, it's technically a sport. I don't like to consider it a sport though...

Sport (or sports) is all forms of usually competitive physical activity which,[1] through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing entertainment to participants, and in some cases, spectators.

Unless gaming became physical, then no it isn't a sport.

Its vaguely reminiscent of the argument of whether or not video games should or should not be considered art, ironically I've heard once before that someone called it less of an art and more of a sport. I believe League of Legends has a professional competition between Europe and the US, and it gained some recognition in that regard as a sport, . Personally, meh. I don't care much about sports, it might as well be one if it can be treated as such by such a large number of people. More power to them.~

Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure. I don't know what that means, but that's what the "Professionals" say it is. So you can judge for yourself I guess.

Wow, learn something new everyday. We need that here in the states, I know a lot of people who would need that.

Yes it is. They may not spend hours running but they spend hours training. One they spend 10 hours a day and the game is no longer fun but a job it's a sport for them.
There is also mental preperation that goes into playing.

If chess is a sport, gaming can. I've seen my siblings play smash bros. Non-stop clicking noises from the controller.
