When you dream, are there times when you're aware it's a dream? Are you able to control how your dream goes? If so, what have you done after becoming aware in your dream? Have you tried doing anything crazy knowing you were in a dream?

I've experienced a few times where I knew I was dreaming but I had no control over what was going on. I just thought "oh this is a dream? Whatever." And then the dream carries on by itself without me influencing my surroundings. It's not that I don't want to do anything. I just feel like I'm not in control of my own body and I just watch how things play out as if I'm watching a movie.

I've always thought it'd be cool to make your dream turn into whatever you want.

Edit: Yes, I am talking about lucid dreams.

Sometimes. There is a phenomenon known as "lucid dreaming" , where the person in the dream realizes that they are dreaming, and subsequently can control what happens. There are techniques in which can increase the likelihood of having lucid dreams, but I'll leave the details to someone else to save time, but google lucid dreaming.

I've had these dreams before but none recently. Maybe they happen less as one ages? Not sure. Sometimes it depended on when I slept throughout the day. I had one summer where I could force myself to have a lucid dream by going back to sleep at 9 AM. It worked 100% of the time and it was quite weird.

Yeah I was thinking of lucid dreams when I made this topic. The term just slipped my mind for a second and I forgot what it was called.

I have no recollection of my dreams let alone be awake during and/or be able to manipulate one as I see fit.

Yes, lucid dreaming happens to me quite often...surprisingly on the nights I get only a few hours of sleep due to marathoning anime (I can't really remember dreams when I sleep too much), but I do find myself with quite a bit of control (or at least choices...so sort of like a game: 1) do this; 2) do that; 3) do nothing; etc.) during many dreams

I've had lucid dreams for over a decade. Believe me, it takes practice, and it doesn't mean dreams are any less of a hassle when they're unpleasant. If anything, it may make them an even bigger pain in the ass, because controlling dreams isn't easy. It comes with mental strain, to the point of me having had woken up with migraines a few times.

While not all the time i would say maybe once or twice a month i will have a dream that i know I'm in a dream or know something is up. Dreams that i've had before are the most common ones to figure I'm in a dream.

It's happened to me before. I usually just tell myself it's a dream and it'll be over soon xp

I've realized that I'm dreaming tons of times before, but I really haven't had that many lucid dreams...

I get these every once in a while. When I was younger I could control them but I've since lost that ability. Now I don't really mind not being able to control them because there is a person who I can only meet when the dream isn't lucid.

Once I did the Doctor Who test to see if it was a dream and it worked the 2nd time I tried. Afterwards I couldn't control it though. I could still control my own body though.
