I'm on my nexus 9 using crunchyroll app version1.1.2 and there is massive stuttering/lag. About every 2 minutes the video will stop then the sound about a second later. The video says its still running and will continue with no video or sound for about 10 seconds. Then it will shift back ten seconds to where it had stopped and continue the video. TLDR video lags for 10 seconds every 2 minutes. I also use the app on my nexus 6 phone where it works fine.

Is it a general issue or happening for particular episodes?

Wireless connection or mobile connection?

I'll probably not be able to give you immediate assistance, but any kind of detailed information will help our devs tracking down the issue.

I know, but the specifics will still help.
As this is an issue on a set of particular devices, in this case also one running the not as widely used Android 5.0, which has various other known bugs, it's probably not a simple, straightforward fix.

Android 5.0 is not the only problem, if you read the forums here people are having problems on other devices not on 5.x. Also the last time when I was asking about HD support you said it was taking so long because of "testing".. so my question is how did testing pass if it wasnt tested on 5.0 based devices? Also 5.x will be coming to alot of devices soon and when they do your app will break. (for example my galaxy tab s works on kitkat but its getting 5.x in april)

trust me I am not trying to be a pain in your side, but as I said in my other forum post there is a big disconnect here with information provided to the users with problem. right now your saying your sending the information to the devs....... after that its a big blackhole. there is not updates that, they have found the problem. or they are working on the fix, or there is an ETA on a fix etc. in my opinion the "devs" should be the ones watching the forums so see the issues reported first hand....

your support structure (in my opinion) needs an overhaul , big problems like this that linger on for a while with no communication leave a very bad impression with people as that you dont care about us your customers. and I will be honest, so far I am not impressed.... so please do everything to change my and everyone elses opinion here that have been plagued with issues since the latest app update.

Whether all the devices are affected by the same issue is hard to tell from my perspective - neither am I a developer, nor do I work at the CR offices. As I've previously pointed out, development for Android is not an easy task because there are so many different devices using different hardware and software. All the issues that have been reported, I have forwarded to the developers. ETAs for fixes aren't easily given, as there are many steps to go through on the way to getting an update out which have variable duration. I think you'd dislike being given a wrong estimate as much as not being given one.

and thats kind of my main point, I understand your doing everything to help but like you said your not a dev and you dont work at the CR offices. (hence my comment about information disconnect) and I understand the issue with android trust me I do since I personally have 5 of them (since I do testing my self for the major IT co I work for) missing dates is ok in the IT world the thing is you keep up with your users.. for example you say a date of X, when your close to day x you find out it needs more time so you inform people it slipped and the new day is y. Also you should use your customers here to help test as needed.... I am sure people here would be willing to help run a dev image and get back information needed etc.

There is a big misconception in the world that keeping customers in the dark is a good thing and trust me it not. In fact its the opposite... we need to talk MORE.users need to be more open about problems and companies need to be more open about ETA's, bugs found etc. yes people might be disappointed if a date slipped etc, but they will at least give more respect that you kept them informed.

thanks for the help with the android problems.

I just bought Nexus 9 mainly for streaming on Crunchyroll. After streaming for a few minutes I kept noticing static noises and stuttering. Video is lagging sometimes too. I have an Ipad air and it doesn't have any of these problems. It's not the Nexus 9's problem because it works flawlessly on Netflix and youtube. It's gotten so annoying to the point that I had to sell my Nexus 9.

I bought a Nexus 9 and having the same problem only with Crunchyroll. Every video I've watched has had it play fine for a couple minutes and then the playback stopping for a little and then resuming as described by the OP. It works fine on my Nexus 7, PC, and phone but on the Nexus 9 it stutters. The Nexus 7 is also on Lollipop.

I wonder if this is fixed in 5.1.1? I am going to try this later today.

There are new nvidia bits for the Nexus9 so CR might work better.

It would be useful if someone at CR could give some details of what formats and codecs are being used. Also, it might useful to have a suite of test videos using different codecs, bit rates, and transport so that problem areas can be isolated. If the stutter/lock happens on a certain frame, or after a certain number of bytes, and this is consistent for multiple users, it should help isolate the problem.
