I only pointed out cold steel do to my bad experience with them, and how much they set me back. I have 3 swords from Cold steel, let me correct that, I have 1 sword from cold steel. 2 swords ranging from little over $800.00 and another at $1400.00 Broke wile I was cutting plastic jugs with them, both at the tang where it meets the hilt and blade. Wen investigated found out it was do to bad steel and uneven heat treatment. So No I can not agree with you wen it comes to cold steel. I have to say we are going to have to be on opposing sides of this opinion. But still it is nice to hear from other sword fans, Maybe sometime you could give your face book name, so I can invite you to a group of fellow sword fans, who not only love swords but make them and sell them, or do back yard cutting, or do the sword sparring. Its a place for all types of sword people.

Seems like you might have gotten pieces from a bad batch. From my experiences, CS has pretty decent customer service and would probably replace or repair the sword for you. Lemons happen. However, I do prefer swords with more traditional construction. They are more comfortable to use.

Morbidhanson, We seem to share a similar taste in swords and where to buy them! Do you happen to have any favorite Katana brands? I have been looking for some higher quality ones on par with my rapiers and Chinese Dynasty sword. I can't find a brand that seems to be recommend by all like Arms & Armour.

Thanks ^^

Edit: Also, how do I reply to you? Talk about the forums beating a scientist in training. Do I have to use the reply/quote?

I haven't really looked into the Chinese Dao swords. I am still a rapier lover at heart. Guess it goes back to my fencing days!

Morbidhanson, we seem to share a common interest in sword sites and blades in general. Do you happen to know a good quality katana brand? $600-1.2k range is good!

My bad for the confusion! It isn't a Chinese rapier. It is a European rapier. I linked some in my previous post. Arms & Armour make some great rapiers, for both sparring and practical use. They are also as realistic as rapiers get!

Na, I don't do social media such as tumblr, twitter, facebook and all. It really isn't my forte and the last time I did something like that I had some... ex-friend who loved me show up at my doorstep. That made an impact on me! So for the most part I don't open up until I feel like I know the person well.

Edit 1: That and jobs look at your social media to see if you are worth hiring. I would rather keep my record clean to get a job in an easy fashion!

Edit 2: Today is a rare day as well. I never have this much free time! I have finals coming up in about a week. So pardon me if I am not the spammer I am today!

That's Understandable, as for me I am around only on my days off so maybe 2 times a week. Mostly Wednesdays and whatever other day they think they can handle the work load without me there. Sure we talk again. I love finding others that share same passion for swords, and weapon sparring.

Hanwei has reliable blades with acceptably traditional construction. It's also known as Paul Chen. This is the go-to for many entry level cutters and it's one of the sword giants.

Bugei and Dynasty Forge are also good ones. CAS Iberia/Citadel is decent as well. Cheness is a little outdated but still solid. Cheness blades are less fine but the metal and heat treatment are great.
