There's a lot of cosplayers who go to Wizard World in Chicago. I've thought about cosplaying, but idk XD

Don't forget Anime Central in Rosemont... I would honestly say that 85% percent of the 70K people that attend that weekend are in cosplay. I really don't think i'm exaggerating that number either. That place is magic!

But yea for the most part in my area, you will not see too many cosplay enthusiasts. It is nice to see people dress up though. If they are secure enough to do it and it makes them happy, they have my blessing. (not that they needed it or anything)

I know, i was using that as a reference from the outside point of view on how cosplay is looked at from a non anime culture person.

I didn't really want to use that but that was the best example i had.

Are cosplayers into anime or they are out there for something else?

Hmm, well, the upcoming Fanime in San Jose is starting to outgrow the city on the days of the convention because of the increasing amount attendants every year... time to relocate!

I'm not sure what you mean... But if you're asking what cosplay is then it comes from then it's costume and play put together, you can cosplay as whatever you want... There's Sci-fi cosplayers whom cosplay stuff like Star wars, there's also game cosplayers whom cosplay stuff from games like DOTA and then there's also a lot of people who cosplay stuff from anime and manga.

What... That's not Cosplay, that's just normal cloths with a brand on it...

I know, it hurts. DX

I think Hot Topic takes part of the blame. Look on their website, and see they have a section called "Cosplay" that is basically logos printed on random tank dresses and shirts. Big facepalm.

It is insanely popular. Rosemont is crawling with anime and sci-fi fans. My profile pic in the tardis was there last year. If you want more info on it you can check out their website at acen.org... They have stuff going on all times of the night and some really great panels and guests. I met Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham last year. Sooo many vendors and artists as well. I highly recommend checking it out especially if you are from the Chi.
