o_o; Well, perhaps it's not the same thing in other places, but around here, it's a food store and they have extremely low prices. And locks on their carts, so that when you want to use one, you have to insert a quarter to release the lock.

JEsus...is this store in the ghetto or something!?...do you ever get your Quarter back!?

XD LMAO. Yes, you get your quarter back. Once you return the cart. I'm not sure how to explain it that well, but the locks are like keys and they link all the carts together. And when you return the cart, you lock it with another cart and your quarter pops back out.

Also, you have to pay for shopping bags. Or just use boxes.

but alot of them charges a loony (one dollar coin for them)

Frankly I'd gladly pay $1 for a shopping cart...when I roll them into the back of my car and drive off..

XDDD lmao.

Well, they allow you to bring your own bags if you don't want to pay for theirs. But you have to bag all your groceries and everything. They don't do it for you.

v aww. Leave Tokio Hotel alone. I think they're in New York right now.

My point is that you guys are all young.
When it becomes more important to pay your rent, or put gas in your car to get to work, or feed your child then to wear the "name brand" clothing... 20 bucks is three meals for your family, or half a tank of gas..
The only clothes i really buy these days are my professional clothes.
I wear suits. I end up spending 25 - 50 bucks for a pair of slacks and 9-15 bucks for a nice blouse.
But that's because I have to look like I spent money on my clothes to my clients... If my clients knew I hate spending money, and didn't really like the frivolous with thier money people... they would never trust me with thier investments.

So i guess what i'm trying to say is that when you get older the things you spend your money on changes drastically...
Fashion is no longer all that important.
I think it's mainly because your responsibilities change.
You're no longer the high school student who has to look "cool"
You're no longer the college student who's trying to fit in or get the guy/girl
You just don't give a shit. I don't need to impress anyone... why the hell should I spend my money on something like that.
I don't need to have the appearance of what's "in" to attract a mate.
I rely on what's inside to do that. 'cuase hun, he may be cute now, but just wait til that six pack grows into a keg, and his hair slides off his head onto his back...
Appearance, and "being fashionable" kinda goes on the wayside.

Maybe it's the mom in me speaking here.

that makes sense, but i don't really like how you categorize young people
my mom and other parents i know around me happen to spend way more on clothing, bags, jewelry, etc.
we're not rich or anything either. she's cheap when it comes to food for me and her, but she'll literally spend thousands on a purse and wear a ring worth more than her car.
i try harder to save money from my job way more than her. i'm a cheapo like that. but even so, i'd rather spend hard earned money on something i really want every now and then (if i can afford it) then spend it on something i wouldn't mind wearing. (it wouldn't bring any joy? i'd rather just not buy anything if i didn't see something i like)

i hope you got my point. i don't think i really articulated it very well.

lokita - i've searched. they never have the shirts i want in my size. it's a curse =(

I'm sorry i didn't mean to sound mean or anything, I'm just a single mom and every penny counts.. so i honestly don't understand the irrational spending of money just to look "cool" or to fit in.
And hell even i spend some bank on things i really want... it's just not on clothes. (well clothes i'd wear outside LOL) I'd rather decorate my home, or buy Anime or whatever... i indulge in whims, just not clothing whims.
