So, my wife freaking hates anime beyond belief. (Took me a very long time just to convince her it was not just porn.) Anyways, am here asking for a good starter anime, for someone that probably isint interested in it.

Few tv shows I know she likes it like, drama, mystery type stuff? Those, criminal shows, whatever genre they would be, like Criminal Minds and the sort. Oh, also comedy.

But yeah, the anime can not really have ANY ecchi, like at all. This is going to be a long hard journey, but hopefully by the end, can get her to enjoy anime. Thank you guys.

Psycho Pass. The first season is really good. I still haven't seen the second season though.

Not sure if these help, but Ghost In The Shell : stand alone complex is an amazing series to show someone that Anime isn't just for kids or ecchi, complex storyline though and heavy on action.
Eden Of The East is a cool political, action, mystery.
Ergo Proxy is a cool futuristic action mystery show, it's gothic tinged too.
Darker Than Black is kind of similar but is about an assassin , and has good mystery elements.

I'm pretty sure that none of these have any ecchi stuff. Don't know if it's what you're looking for, but i hope it helps.

I can only think of Steins;Gate and Psycho-Pass. Good luck!

You're probably the best person to come up with a recommendation for her. You need to pick something that you think would be tailored to her interests ~ which is kind of hard for others to do with limited knowledge of her likes and dislikes

Maybe Serial Experiments Lain or Haibane Renmei? Those are kind of mysterious / drama-y
Le Chevalier d'Eon, perhaps?
I've heard good things about Psycho Pass as well, but can't vouch for it since I haven't seen it.

Ahh, forgot about those. I have seen all of them, but not Darker Than Black. Was actually just thinking of suggestion Ergo Proxy, but heh, think I tried to show her that when it first released, and she wasn't interested.

Thanks Rainbow Sparkles. :D. Anyways, that one comes up a lot, might have to finally give that one a try... Have not even seen it for myself yet either.

Well I know that, but I do not know anime well enough to recommend anything. Honestly, mystery, and the sort are one of my least interested genres... A lot of my friends have suggested to me ecchi anime, she has no interest in seeing. I normally do not watch a of comedy, romance, drama, anime... Or anything else in those genres for that matter. I mostly watch horror related everything. I figured with someone else's greater knowledge of anime, could suggest something that I would not have been able to.

Probably will try Psycho Pass first... hopefully its a good one, but have high hopes for it. As I said previously, it gets mentioned a lot...

Anyways thanks for the suggestions guys, hopefully something good will come of this... Or can always remain watching anime alone...

I wouldn't suggest Psycho Pass for her to watch, its really not a good one to start off on. Even involves a scene that would be really uncomfortable for her I'm sure. But thats just my 2 cents. I would however recommend Mushishi.

Most criminal anime shows have some edgy stuff that I think will only help her validate her opinion. I would go with a real tame comedy or real chill slice of life.

Beck would be my recommendation.

If you want to go comedy there is no funnier show than Gintama.

If only there were a Dr. Frost anime. There is a drama based on it, though.
If you're trying to get her into manga/webtoons, that's a good one to start with.

Giving another vote for Mushishi.

Naruto, Bleach, One Piece. Seriously that's what they're there for.

I love how everyone Skips DBZ. Anyhow i wouldn't recommend those for a first time viewer thats not into anime. While i can't say for her tastes i would stay away from the big shounens. Now if it was reversed situation i would say sure.

Monster, while having some forms of nudity and such, is a wonderful series...

I skipped DBZ for a reason. Name at least ten anime viewers who hasn't watched at least one of them early on. Like I said before that's literally what they're for, to get people into anime.

Those are more for introducing kids and people who like fighting/adventure shows to anime, not the typically adult female demographic that likes police procedurals. It would be better to go find a shoujo or a josei to introduce them to anime than a typical shounen.

Does Fruits Basket or Ouran High have any ecchi-ness? I know some of my female friends who aren't much into shounen like those two.
Though all I know about them is that they are not to my tastes at all.
