Plot Summary

The story starts when Yūta Hoshiya enters Ayana Academy, a school focusing on show business activities, specifically music. The academy has a group of the three students with the highest grades in the musical department, and they are known as the Kao Kai (Cherry Blossom Flower Association). This organization stands at the top of the pecking order within the academy.

The shortcut to entering the musical department is to enter the Star Frame class, which is directly taught by the members, and to be recognized by them. Unfortunately, due to their own problems, students Tōru, Kaito, Shō, Shū, and Yūta are all struggling to even remain candidates for the musical department. By a stroke of luck, however, the five are spotted by Kao Kai member Ōtori, and they peak his interest.

An original TV series called High School Star Musical will debut in Fall 2015. Probably some series about music and preview will be revealed later.

This show looks like another Shonen Hollywood, but we shall see about that. It's not likely to capture my interest seeing that this is fujoshi-based material from the look of things, but it's too soon to say anything about it.

At least they didn't turn those stupid Disney Channel movies that no one cares about anymore into an anime.

SH was more dramatic and tried to be realistic, unlike this which looks like stupid fun. Looks more like UtaPri than anything.

Also why the heck do we call everything aimed at women fujoshi material? We don't call all the crap aimed at men yuri-bait. This is just a show aimed at female otaku in general. If it was fujoshi material it would be actual BL.

The first episode is now up on Funimation.

Episode 1

The Kao Council sure put on an impressive performance at the front gates. That sure got Hoshitani and Nayuki motivated in a way. The auditions were pretty rough, but even though Hoshitani screwed up the vocals, Nayuki can't sing, and the others failed in one aspect of the audition, Otori saw a whole lot of potential in them that couldn't be measured in auditions. So not only did they pass, they are selected for one of the Star Teams. That's a solid enough way to start this show and the music is great as to be expected for a show like this.

Episode 1

Oh idols. I have some mixed thoughts on the music but the character designs were kinda neat and clean.
The body language of the show seems to be the most noticeable part though in particular with the dance movements. The Kaos Council are considered to be the powerhouse of the series I guess.

Episode 1

Yay, i'm not late today! XD

So, this series is definitely interesting! If you have an appreciation for the arts, then you will like this, but if not, then you might not. Despite that, I found this first episode to be interesting. Coming from a music background, I can relate to this, and I have helped out a little with choreography, so I understand what is going on here a little. The characters seem to be interesting and it looks like the plot is moving along as well, but the interesting performances is what got me since it has that musical theater to it, which I enjoyed! I am looking forward to the next episode.
