It would be awesome if, as others have already said, we get the knowledge of the language instead of just a translation, so as not to lose anything.

HAving to learn a new language could be really bad sínce some people are really slow when it comes to learning new languages. But that's not all, what if the original translation device is so expensive that you can't afford to learn a new language? Annnnd, what if the device is suppose to work only when both people talking have one of these devices inside them.

That is what is known as a "Torpedo Patent." The people listed as inventors do not own a company that is developing the idea. What they have is a document for an idea. What they are waiting for is for someone else to invent it.

When a real inventor has made a real working prototype, and has made progress in developing it, and when real investors have sunk millions into further development, that's when the patent holders will come out and sue the actual inventors for patent infringement.

That's one of the reasons people are screaming at the government for Patent Reform.
